Release 1.35.21.0 just keeps looping

Hi I’m new here. Looking for someone to help me as I have an incredibly frustrating situation with trying to install release 1.35.21.0.

I am using a Windows PC using the Steam installation.

When I enter MSFS 2020, I am forced down the release 1.35.21.0 route. It tries to install 12 packages (most frustratingly, I don’t even use the aircraft it is trying to update). The install seems to go on for far too much time, sometimes it seems that it keeps trying to install stuff, failing and then reinstalling. Eventually (and this can be hours later), I do get to the Home screen, and everything is fine. The window says that the release is 1.35.21.0. I can fly and that’s great, but the message at the top says that the sim is still trying to download stuff. When I enter Content Manager, I see that the sim is still trying to update these packages, and still failing, and it just keeps repeating itself! When I exit the sim and go back another time, I have to go through the whole process over again.

What a nightmare. I’ve read up a bit, and have tried removing the stuff in my Community folder, but to no avail. I have seen some guidelines that in order to ensure a proper install, you have to uninstall all your 3rd party stuff! That will take ages, and then reinstalling and reconfiguring my Honeycomb peripherals will take even more time.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance!

When the programme is trying to download, do you have the bar in the lower screen showing the names of files it is trying to download? If it’s the same as has been reported before the sim is stuck on a corrupted file. Make a note of any file that is repeating or that is not downloading. Shut down the sim then you need to go into the MSFS/Official folder and search for that bad file then delete it.
Restart the sim and this time it should download a fresh copy of the “bad” file which hopefully will then be accepted and the update will complete.

Thanks for your reply. No, I have not seen the same sort of packages being a problem. They are mainly problems with installing a lot of the aeroplane updates, particularly the Cirrus. But maybe what I should do is take note of the failing packages and delete those aircraft from the Official folder? Will try today.

So you are saying the base update to 1.35.21.0 has installed okay - you can fly the sim without problem?

In that case you’re probably correct, it’s the updated addons that are causing the problem. I’d do what you suggest, can’t do any harm.

Well I deleted some stuff from the Official folder, and reloaded the sim. The result was a very large 9Gb reinstallation and once that was done, I have exactly the same failed packages continually trying to download in Content Manager. She attached screenshot

Any other ideas, anyone?

FYI - I seem to have resolved the issue by deleting all the failed packages from the Official folder, and finally after the last install, no more looping through failed packages in Content Manager. Phew.
