This is my home town’s airport. This one is near and dear to me, and I’ve gone through hours of video and photo research to make this FEEL like CYZV, within the confines of the stock assets of MSFS. Here is a list of things I have tried to correct and embellish:
- Removed the closed runway, as it is not in aerodrome charts
- Corrected approach lighting
- Corrected glideslope lighting (no more PAPI’s in the middle of the runway)
- Corrected taxiway naming and signage
- Corrected auto-generated buildings blocking apron parking
- Corrected main apron parking, all ramps are correctly sized according to parking procedures
- Corrected water covering the islands, waypoint JABBA makes more sense with La Grosse Boule visible
- All helipads and hangars are available to use
- Added generic hangars to all available locations
- Added perimeter fencing
- Added lighting to main apron and parking lots
- Added VOR and ILS antenna models, as well RVR measuring equipment
- Cleared vegetation from dirt paths inside airport boundaries
I have started to try and texture blemishes out of the satellite imagery, as well as replacing the roads where they belong (MSFS draws them too roundly and they don’t properly follow terrain), but I have become frustrated with the texturing tools in the SDK, so I’m releasing this as a work-in-progress for the time being. Texture priorities keep getting messed up, falloff values reset themselves randomly… it’s been a pain! I am contemplating retouching the actual ground tiles instead, which should be better suited for what I am trying to do.
