Yes, its better and of course Im supporting mod. It takes time to clean it up but Im getting there
Kl great stuff, thanks
Hello there @Kanaron125 .
Thank you for creating this mod. Love it!
Dziękuję bardzo panu, życzę zdrowia!

First off, thanks for creating this amazing app reproducing something that honestly should have been in the sim in the form of a damage model…
Anyway, I got a few questions on how the probabilities exactly work.
The percentage, are those per flight or per event? If I set the percentage of all failures to 33% and activate random altitude between 2000 and 3000 feet, does that mean that the software is rolling dice once for the flight with a 1:3 chance of a failure happening for each possible failure and than roles dice to determine an altitude between 2000 and 3000 at which all those failures are happening at once? Or does it choose a different random altitude for each failure that is happening? What if I have both random altitudes and random time checked?
Sorry if the answer seems obvious but I can’t really get how it works from the app alone. Thanks for the app again, this provides a lot of much needed additional gameplay.
If I can make a feature request btw it would be to move the app more in the direction of a “RPG” like wear and tear model. This might be understandably outside of the scope of the app but it looks to me that you might be halfway there:
Collect a few statistical information from the sim like how much time the user in a particular aircraft spend above a certain speed, at a certain angle above a certain speed, time spend at above a certain altitude, time spend at a certain temperature / weather, has flaps out at a certain speed, total flight duration w/o making a stop at an airport and at what vertical and lateral speed they made contact with the ground on landing. Keep that data between flights and use it to generate multipliers for each possible failure (or simply raise the base percentage every X seconds based off of that data).
This way the whole system would be dynamic, dependent on the users flight behavior and still random enough to provide surprises.
Thanks ![]()
In your example when you have all failures set to 33% and lets say you have both random alt and time. When you click “Start” button then app rolls dice which failures will happen with 33% chances for each failure
33% is quite high so if you have all failures with 33% and you dont set “Limit no. failures” then you have high chance to have few failures
At first there is rollig dice which failure will happen with 33% chance. Lets say 10 failures were randomized. Then there is second randomization: what will trigger each failure: time or alt (only two so 50% chances for each)
Lets say it was even: 5 failures will be triggered by time and 5 by alt
And then there is third randomization for each failure: at what exact alt or time failure will trigger
Lets say you set alt range between 2000 and 3000 (keep in mind that this is absolute alt. If you are on airport that have higher elevation than 3000 then all alt failures will trigger instantly). So for each of that 5 failures there will be selected alt at which (or above) failure will trigger. One can trigger at 2154 ft other at 2837 ft, etc.
For failures which will be triggered by time there will be randomization at what time after takeoff failure will trigger. Of course between set time range
You can check it all on “Failure list” tab. There will be list of all failures that will trigger (or triggered already) and there will be information what will trigger it
I have in my mind something like wear and tear. However I will see if I will add it to RandFailures or if I will make completly new app for that. For now Im rebuilding RandFailures to make it more user friendly and easier to maintain
Hey there, thanks for the detailed explanation. Maybe you should consider putting part of it into the help menu.
BTW, you probably implemented this as flexible as possible ![]()
Thanks a ton for your efforts! I’m really excited to see what you have next for RandFailures! I wanted to ask; Do you think it might be possible to have some sort of toolbar implementation? I imagine there’s too much going on to have it ALL be up there in the Toolbar, but I’m curious if it’s possible to implement some basic controls through the toolbar while the .exe is running elsewhere.
Probably I will add few explanations in new version
About toolbar I will at some point look at it and see what can I do with it. Probably it will be possible to migrate whole RandFailures there but I need to do a lot of research before that
So what I’m gathering is that it is still not always guaranteed you WILL have a failiure correct? Because like others said before, instead of always making it to my destinations I need a reason to watch out for things like my temps and pressures and such. But I also don’t want to fail every single time just because ya know.
Als9 thanks for your hard qork and dedication to your users and of course the project. Love this mate.
This looks like what should be default in the game
Can I set stuff to decimals? Like .5% chance an engine fails or something
Sorry, i’m on vacation
So, not always guaranteed you WILL have a failiure is correct
Decimals not yet. In next version
Am I missing something here? I downloaded the files from GitHub, but when I open the file I can’t find any executional application?
I assume you downloaded source code, not release application. In ReadMe section there is “Installation manual” with link to releases. Or you can click on right side of page on Releases. There just click on RandFailuresFS2020v1_8.zip to download it. Then unzip and run .exe file
Don’t mind me, I’m being monumentally stupid. Didn’t see the other link.
This Mod looks amazing! Is it also compatible with using shared cockpit mods (such as YourControls)?
This is a great mod, Kanaron! It brings a lot more options to the table when creating failures and scenarios for abnormal/emergency operations! (It will be great for teaching partial panel instrument work, and I love how you can set it up to do a real V1 cut on the jets!)
Thanks for creating this!
Hi is there any way to reste the failures after they occured ? Or the only way is to reset the flight ?
I’m training for engines failures in MEP and would like to do as may as them during a flight and reset at any time.
Thanks for this program.
Hello, no. The only way is to reset flight
Beautiful program, i have just find this topic and i have test too to reset a failture simulating an in flight repair or repairing the plane on a pause before another flight, in older fs this is possible, don’t know why they haven’t put it on this simulator.
I was looking for a way to have failures in otherwise a routine flight as a courier/bush pilot in SEA and I stumbled into this - thank you for making this addon. Am excited to test this later today.
Cheers mate.
