RELEASE: MilViz Corsair for MSFS

Huh? what exactly is happening now ? Is the update released? i am in my downloads page now in MilViz site and i see only 2 downloads left without me doing any downloads after first purchase of the corsair.
Also,i can’t tell if the plane is a new one

So… the best way I found to keep some sanity with all this.

I backup all the installers onto OneDrive. There is an MSFS Addons folder, within that is an Aircraft folder and it has ALL the aircraft I have purchased organized into folders BY DEVELOPER. The folder name has a CURRENT version number in it. So that way I always know which version I have installed. When something is updated, I download the new installer and back it up into the appropriate folder and change the version number to the new one.

SimMarket is a problem because even though my preferences specify that I want to receive e-mails when products are updated, I NEVER get them now. I used to! But not anymore. No, they aren’t in Spam.

Orbx is great - they just update their stuff in-app. Marketplace is great - it updates all my stuff there too. But I hate the Marketplace and never buy any aircraft there - only airports.

For the rest of them… most third parties are GREAT at e-mailing you when there are updates. There are a couple of notable ones that don’t - QualityWings, MilViz, FSLabs. PMDG doesn’t e-mail either, but their Ops Center keeps everything up to date.

Calm down. The update hasn’t been released yet. The Beta is out, but it’s posted in a forum thread in Support forums for the Corsair. MilViz Forums, that is.

Yeah but the thing is that it shows me only 2 downloads left.
Like WTH ? I bought something and i have limited access to it ?

That’s correct. MilViz only gives you 10 downloads. If you run out of them, you will have to contact them and ask them to give you more and explain why you have used them up. This is why it’s important to back up installers so that you don’t need to download anything more than you need. Cause each update will require you to download again - that will count against your remaining downloads.

The thing is that is already showing me 2 downloads left and i haven’t downloaded more than once, since i bought the thing

That is a mystery I am unable to explain.

You actually have a hidden altitude hold button: you can go into the corsairs files and modify it to enable autopilot, then use keybinds to toggle autopilot altitude hold etc.

thanks, glad i know that, so milviz is off my list.

They have already stated you can request more downloads if you reach the 10 max. Not a big deal.

I ran out of activations (after one install) when I did a reinstall of my OS and had to contact them to get the product working again a while ago, this not user friendly at all.
So backing up installers is not even a solution it seems. (I call it no trust in your paying customers)

I think the key is maybe using the uninstaller to remove the product. Sometimes that will deactivate your product so you can reinstall. PMDG’s planes on P3D require you to deactivate the license within the FMS of the Boeings before you uninstall. Recently, when upgrading from 5.1 to 5.2 I did exactly that - deactivated licenses in FMS of PMDG planes and use uninstallers for everything. Had zero issues reinstalling all my aircraft.

I agree. Not a big deal. 10 downloads is more than enough. I’ve had other products (not aviation) in the past limited at two/three downloads. I also keep all installation files on a couple of off-line drives. Some install files actually down load the applications, but none of those are limited.

I have seen that 10 downloads limit before. I think SamScene have that but each time they release an update they reset the number back to 10. That works for me as you always have 10 with each new update.

A bunch more companies do that - A2A too… I don’t really have a problem with it for the most part. If there are too many updates though, it CAN become problematic.

I haven’t flown the Corsair since word came out about the upgrade coming ‘next week’ some time in early May. From the update above, it seems like a totally new plane and well worth the wait. I sure hope ‘next week’ is more accurate this time.

I’m looking forward to the update being released today. Let’s see if it happens.

With the the pre-release of the SP the handling of the Corsair during takeoff has improved significantly. I got bashed the other day for stating that I had the impression since SIM Update 4 certain effects are overexagerated what makes it near to impossible to make a proper takeoff and I wished this issue got fixed so the Corsair would be flyable for me again. Well since now things improved with the pre released SP looks like I wasn’t that wrong after all.

There’s no reason to wait for it to officially drop, just go grab it off the forums, I haven’t found any issues yet.
