Well spoken. Takes a lot to stand up - you done good.
And about the strain - you’re right, and we’re all feeling it.
Peace!

One day… I hope we will have a sim in a state where there isn’t a collective uproar about it. One day.
We all just need to breathe and hope MS/Asobo can get their stuff together at some point and soon. Like I said, the people that need to get their stuff together are the ones making decisions about deadlines and directions. That’s the bottleneck. The rest of their team will be very thankful.
MS have a history going back to the 90’s of clever marketing people taking over and messing things up followed by periods where engineering/technical advice is listened to and things work for a bit.
The famous Good-Windows/Bad-Windows Gollum style flip flop is a classic example of this dynamic:
Good - Win 98 SE - (engineers in charge)
Bad - Win ME - (marketing in charge)
Good - XP - (engineers in charge)
Bad - Vista - (marketing took over)
Good - Windows 7 - (engineering had control)
Bad - Windows 8 - (marketing in charge again)
Good - Win10 (engineering in charge)
Windows 11 - probably Bad as it looks like marketing are back in charge
I agree, listening to what Win 11 is all about, I am not looking forward to it. It looks like much brouhaha over nothing, no real change that benefits the way I work, other than rearranging the screen and getting in my face with the OS, which I could care less about.
I do appreciate the increase in security, so, I’ll give it that.
In the end, I think this (SU5 and XBox) was the painful change we all have to go through to get to a point where we can discover new vistas and move to the next level. Hopefully they now put some serious effort into multiplayer so we can get back to at least a smidgen of the capability FSX used to have in that area.
I don’t mind sea changes, as, they’re usually what you have to go through to get to the next level. They’ve learned a lot in the last year, and they seem to be applying lessons from that, if in fits and starts it might seem sometimes.
I liked it better when it was a product you bought - rather than a service they provide.
The latter takes away our voice as consumers and gives them full fiat to do whatever they please…
All the more reason to buy products like this C140 direct from the developers or through a store like Orbx, even if it eventually appears on the marketplace.
All you get from the marketplace is a vague invoice for a certain amount of “game credits” with no record or details of what you actually purchased.
Any news to update plans after SU5 hotfix #2?
Warning the following video is just a 25 minute scenic flight following the rivers from Howard to Murchison in the NZ South Island.
Basically just 25 minutes of low and slow in a C140, sort of like one of those meditative new age forest videos really but with an air plane.
… but it does give a feel for what it is like flying the c140 in game.
Thank goodness! Great video.
I second this
I second this. There’s nothing worse than listening to someone drone on and on…
Seems to me it’s much more likely two people would be sitting in mostly silence, rather then one person dominiating the whole conversation and talking on and on and on… Thanks
Any upcoming updates for this? Would be nice to have the post-SU5 wake effects for the floatplane.
Does anyone currently have issues with the installer for this aircraft? I.e. “Microsoft Edge can’t read and write to its data directory”?
Sounds more like a Windows issue with your download location. Does other stuff from elsewhere download Ok ?
Yes. The Arrow III and TurboArrows install perfectly fine. Somehow, InstallShield opens correctly with them, but not with the C-140
Odd.
Have you tried right clicking the installer and telling it to "run as administrator " ?
Today I made a flight with the C140 float plane. Everything went fine including the first waterlanding. I then tried to take off again but the engine didn’t have power any more. RPMs stayed low and it was not possible to reach a speed that would allow take off.
Now, this could also be a sim bug, but it doesn’t happen when flying other aircraft. Just want to know if any of you experienced this with the C140 or with other aeroplanes.
AV perhaps stomping on the downloads, or as they run? You’d usually get some form of notification in that event, but you might have those see turned off.
Yes, I have. It did not work, see below.
