They have said multiple times now they won’t do any more to it and basically don’t care that nearly everyone is saying it’s a problem so my faith in them is pretty low personally so the amount of bugs worries me as there was less on C140 yet haven’t done much with that. I hope am proven wrong but I’m holding off personally until a few updates and a clear consensus
I’ve never noticed cockpit noise in the 140 being excessive so please don’t presume to speak for “nearly everyone” unless you’ve done a scientific survey.
In multiple posts on Facebook in comments they totally dismiss the fact people have issues and say to just adjust engine volume (which doesn’t fix the issue as its not that simple as just being loud,
the actual sounds are very off ) or download a mod which again only fixes the volume not other issues.
I said nearly as if you look on any of the posts they made or forum topics for even a few minutes you see constant mention. Same goes for reviews and the comments on those. Nearly doesn’t mean all. If you disagree that’s fine. The scientific study comment is hilarious. I have done scientific studies before, that’s actually been reviewed by the UK home office and NICE, and to meet the standards I would need to interview absolutely everyone
who ordered which isn’t possible unless was a huge data breach and even then, the numbers who bought wouldn’t be high enough to be deemed scientific. My comments are from very closely following and observing.
To come back to the Spit. I’m afraid that AHs performance in fixing the C140 may not be different when needed for the Spitfire. So, I’ll wait and watch.
The only one that effects flight and is urgent for me is that second one if you forget to do a preflight.
This one is because the aircraft defaults to “cold and dead” settings when spawning on the runway - but for some odd reason the engine is ticking even with the mags off. Not a huge issue to work around just turn on mags and fuel or hit quick start.
All I have seen with the c140 is references to how the SDK is in flux and any fixes to say the sound system would just need to be redone over and over as the SDK changes and basically they are deferring some of that work until the SDK is more stable because they are chasing their tail.
I know a few of the usual suspects interpreted that as “they are abandoning the aircraft forever” but it is not what I read from them.
Thank you so much
Could you please ( or anyone else here ) tell me, how to modify the seat height ?
Where exactly is the setting, inside the cameras.cfg file?
I am in a holding pattern for this one. I do have the excellent FI Spitire if I want some of that, but my decision will be based on how quickly/efficiently the initial issues are resolved as well as continuous support for their C140 which is yet to have an update since SU5 and yet to incorporate effects and such. I am cautiously optimistic for this product, but I am not rushing out right now to get it. How this all develops will be the factor that will determine if I purchase this. It’s just not an aircraft I HAVE TO have RIGHT NOW. The DC-3 will be for sure a Day 1 purchase. But not this.
Interestingly I have the opposite problem as in real-life I am shortish (5’6") and even with cushions struggle to get a clear view in real aircraft meaning to make most MSFS planes match the real ones I fly I need to LOWER the MSFS seat heights, but I do that with TrackIR.
Anyway - clearly you do have to play with cameras.cfg
Locate this section:
[CAMERADEFINITION.1]
and edit the line:
InitialXyz = 0.25, -0.295, 0
The values are metres and the seat/pilot height is likely the one for y (currently set to -0.295).
Other than that you are on your own never tried fiddling with it
They have said on FB to a comment: “Thankyou … Yes we will be at work on a first update very soon and hope to add quite a few extra touches of realism.”
Can I disable, by default, the gun sight ?
I wish I could reduce the prop effect, where / which / is the file for this ? I’d give it a try
Is there a way to assign a button for the Quick Start Switch ?
Thank you
Not sure how to remove the gunsight itself. But you can turn it off and get rid of the targeting reticule. There is a switch hidden to the left of the gunsite near the bottom.
If you start on runway or air (engines on) there does appear to be some sort of input bug happening that causes the engine to pulse (cut out and restart) - I think that might be what you are hearing.
Either cold start or the built in “quick start handle” result in the engine running properly.
Yes. There is a switch to turn off the reflector sight. It’s where it is supposed to be as far as I recall from IL-2
