It never would have occurred to me if you didn’t mention it so I’m afraid you have to shoulder some of the blame, friend.
This is me bashing that L key after release:

Correct. I contacted her as well to verify the issue. She had a Honeycomb with the Beacon Light set to the on position. So it was conflicting. In the flight manual I have noted these special circumstances so that you can disable these rare hotkeys prior to enjoying the flight. In her defense, the flight manual is not available yet and I forgot to tell her on pre-release.
MY FAULT
Quick question - since we’re on the subject of authenticity, will there be an option for a period-correct USN or FAA pilot figure? Haven’t seen one yet in the video previews, so was wondering.
Every time I come back to this thread and read more, these words keep going through my head:
“I cannot wait to get this aircraft.”
“I cannot wait to get this aircraft.”
“I cannot wait to get this aircraft.”
Are you suggesting this isn’t period correct?
A little known fact that the Fleet Air Arm employed boxer dogs in WW2.
Let me revise my comment - I’ve only seen one period correct Wildcat pilot.
And he’s a very good boy.
Apart from him, though… wouldn’t mind a homo sapiens in a leather helmet, wearing a Mae West… instead of a guy in a baseball cap or a bone dome. As long as we’re all “this is 1942, GPS over my dead body” and such…
I would love a well made CV-6 Enterprise!
That ship is, to me, the quintessential WWII American carrier.
Call me crazy… I want to see a Casablanca-Class Escort Carrier
Nearly one third of the 143 Aircraft Carriers in WW2 were Casablanca class and none of them survive today.
As an enthusiast of history, I love the forgotten just as much as the limelight.
I dont think you’re crazy at all. Personally, I’d love to see more period correct WWII airfield scenery packs that compliment our great array of available warbirds. I’m talking about airfields that are significant to FlyingIron’s Spitfire, P-38, BF 109, and upcomming FW 190. Airfields in Guadalcanal and the Solomon Islands that are significant to Blackbird’s Corsair. Airfields in North Africa, China, the Philippines, etc., significant to Big Radials’ and IniBuilds P-40. Etc. And, of couse, period correct carriers for the FlyingIron Hellcat and GotFriend’s soon to be mine F4 Wildcat.
I have seen some WW2 airfields on flightsim.to but they’re mostly pretty basic. There’s a couple decent ones at least though:
Actually I just remembered they don’t have parking spots which kinda sucks. They look decent though. I do wish there were more decent ones.
Anyway, have a Wildcatfish
Yep. I have these. This is precisely the sort of scenery I’d pay for if they contained period correct modeling, surounding scenery, parking spots, etc. How cool would it be to have a develeoper publish “Theater of Operations” packs that align with WWII aircraft releases?
I wish i knew 3D modeling!
There are also the 1930s airfields done by Redwing but they’re commercial airfields not military. I remember having some decent WW2 airfields for FSX back in the day that were great for the Spitfires and the like. Theatre packs would be awesome.
I’ve often thought the same, and occasionally I’ll even load up Blender and poke around with it briefly before getting scared off by its user interface.
And another pic of the Wildcatfish because it’s amusing me
LOL you better stop with that Wildcatfish!
Maybe a soon to be GotFriend’s “Adventure Pack” mod.
That’ll be enough for now. Can’t find many more pics anyway. And they only ever converted one of them. Wiki says the floats slowed it down from the 331 mph of the -3 variant it was built from down to 241 mph!
Just finished watching this plane being demo’ed on ForderLearntoFly twitch stream, with the Got Friends Developers taking part in chat.
Especially impressive are its Multiplayer Implementation, and the visuals correctly portrayed over Multiplayer.
Great Job @ Got Friends – a definite “Must Buy”
