You do from an exterior view.
In an Interior view, the pilots body (you) would get in the way and block stuff, if you zoomed back.
Same for almost every (if not all) MSFS planes
Click on the seat. There is a toggle to show and hide the pilot in the external view.

Using my Logitech switch panel …every time I make a selection (gear or switch) my smoke and flares activate and the smoke stays on …any ideas for a simple fix?
I’ve gleaned that 2400 rpm is max power and 2700 rpm is mil power, but not from any concrete sources
Check the manual key binds. Says to disable (un-assign) Cabin light (from memory)… or maybe Pedestal light. Check the manual! Bottom row of the binds table

The FA-18 fighter pilot model is the default option. If you don’t have that free aircraft installed, you may not see a pilot model. You can choose a different pilot from the sim settings to over-ride it for now. We’re going to change it to the default 01 male for the 1.0.1 update so those who dont want the FA-18 / TopGun expansion can avoid this confusion.
I also found that the first time I go into external view there is no pilot.
But, If you pause them unpause while external, then the pilot will appear.

Love the aircraft. It’s a great effort.
Is there any chance of ever getting a WWII pilot in a future patch? It would be the cherry on an already fantastic cake! 
Personally, I wish Asobo would make generic leather helmet pilot, like the TG jet drivers, so you would have an alternate to seeing a guy/gal in skinny jeans and a David Clark lying on the Wright Flyer!

Oh come on… let’s think of a good name for a pack similar to Man’s Best Friend but for WW2 pilots…

I think you guys would be heroes if you could offer custom pilots to the sim.
There are so many great options that I, for one, would gladly pay for.
Earhart for the Electra.
Boyington for the Corsair.
That would be a welcome add on!
