Released: FlyTampa Humberside EGNJ

Seems a very strange one for FT but I’ll take it - it looks stunning! I wonder if it’s by an indie dev under FT’s branding?

Can’t say I’m that familiar with the area at all, but it is odd that Fly Tampa have done EGNJ.

Here’s the official page-

Very odd indeed. Literally came out of nowhere. I can only think it’s by an indie dev, under FT’s umbrella. But they aren’t known for marketing other developers’ products.

Cheapest on Orbx (marginally), where I just bought it. Will report later…

Great shout, although I’m not sure how close the bridge is to the airport.

I saw speculation that they did this after getting burned by the Montreal debacle with multiple developers releasing within the same couple month period. Other than UK2000, it was extremely unlikely for someone else to make this place. If they start focusing on smaller fields, likely much to the chagrin of the long-haulers, they may corner the market.

Just a reminder that the Humber Bridge is already a POI in MSFS with WU3 and about 9 miles from this airport.

Just did a KLM flight into here from EHAM. Absolutely stunning. We’re talking an insane amount of detail that rivals (and probably even betters) the work of Jo Erlend Sund and Pyreegue.

It doesn’t feel like a FlyTampa product, though — but maybe that’s because they’ve never tackled such a small airport (it’s smaller than I thought), into which they can obviously cram more detail. They’ve included a few businesses in the airport’s immediate vicinity, including a cattle feed factory and what looks like some sort chemical plant, which has some wonderful steam effects coming out of its chimneys. I won’t say too much more as there’s an awful lot to discover for such a small facility. Very easy scenery to recommend, even if you aren’t familiar with the place.

A couple of very tiny niggles: there are two static Eastern Jetstreams (not in the way for GSX or AI traffic) which are modelled as series 31s when they should be 41s; and there’s an American truck cab which, oddly, sits alongside a couple of European-style examples.

I grabbed a couple of North Lincolnshire hand-crafted landmark packs by The Secret Studio, free from flightsim.to, including their Humber Bridge (not to be confused with their recent payware that covers the same area, but in more detail). The bridge is a fair way from the airport and can’t really be seen in any detail on approach to either runway end, so I wouldn’t recommend the payware if you’re looking to add VFR references to the final approach. The Lindsey Oil Refinery, however, is a quite prominent feature when on finals for RWY20, so definitely worth installing.

I live very close to the airfield and have flown out of there numerous times on commercial and private flights. The level of detail is staggering. Not the biggest airfield but one close to my heart. I just need a J41 (PMDG please do yours for MSFS) or some fictional Eastern Airlines A320 / B737 liveries.

If only they’d included the prominent Kirmington church and steeple but you can’t have everything.

A huge thank you to the developer, I cannot thank you enough, I’ve been waiting for this since MSFS first came out.

Perhaps worth suggesting the inclusion of the church to them?

As for Eastern, I got quite excited when I saw a few liveries for the FSS E170 — alas, they no longer work after the more recent updates to the aircraft. Presumably someone will update them to be compatible, in time.

I’m very impressed with this FT offering. Certainly a candidate for the most detailed airport yet, along with Pyreegue EGNX, Ini EGHI and Aerosoft EBBR/ENGM.

Make sure you download those Secret Studio freeware packs. They add some nice, custom POIs to the area.

You can get an Eastern livery for the King Air (but the main attraction is converting it for the Blacksquare Analogue version- if you have it)

Of course I’ve never done this myself to pretend I’m flying a J41 nor am I hoping that one is also done for the Duke so I can keep up the whole pretence until a decent J41 is released.

Does this scenery include the Marrowbone and Cleaver, useless if not :sunglasses:

It was a major part of my time at EGNJ, if you were lucky you may spot the odd off duty helicopter person sliding gracefully off their bar stool…

Now at Contrail, and for UK buyers only £10.45 inc. tax. If any potential buyers want a 10% off code, drop me a PM.

Yeah, those freeware packs really make the scenery since in real life it’s a pretty flat, featureless area.

Bournemouth next, please, Mr. Tampa…

Yes, that would be a great next airport

Or Norwich!
