They shouldn’t transform into anything when the RPM don’t change. But that also happens. Definitely a bug, not a feature. And sorry, I’m not touching this one again until it is fixed. It annoys me so much that I can’t enjoy it.
The gauge may not be reflecting the change, but the aircraft certainly responds with the changes in the sounds. I’ll keep an eye on the RPM’s next flight.
EDIT: RPM indicator looks correct to me. Interestingly, if you follow my procedure with the throttles, you get to 8000ft and the lows come back. At that point you can literally dial the low notes up and down with the mixture setting. There is a nice supercharger effect with leaning the engines at that altitude. It works for me, but I’m only a few hours into it.
So it’s not perfect. Some inconsistencies with fuel system. Sound and prop speed graphics don’t quite respond to throttle input. No doubt this will be fixed but they’re not show stoppers to me. This is a really good plane. And developer gives great support. I just did a three hour flight in a group with bush planes. I was astonished. The Ford totally held its own. It’s unbelievable how short it can land. Totally worth the price. Can’t wait for updates and whatever else Tukan comes up with next.
Cracking job Tukan
Noticed that the tail nav light (white) effect file is not attached to rudder travel motion. Super minor thing, but maybe worth noting as when the rudder pivots you’ll see a white orb suspended in mid air (not a modelled part, just the light fx file).
Also concur with the bass dropping out in the sound at certain power settings.
Finally, I’m wondering if the Emergency Only Boost red switch cover could default to down and be functional, rather than unclickable and in an up/accessible position.
Overall still by far one of the best aircraft (if not THE best) of this era for the sim.
Hey, so i picked this up recently on Xbox, great work, awesome plane overall!
So, one thing. No matter what I do, how gentle i am with almost no payload, or what I do with the mixture controls the CHT basically just seems to peg at 600 and never come back. Not flying in extreme heat or anything. I’m pretty good at managing the engines, I’ve tried all the tricks. Even tried different mixture settings on different engines to compare, EGT responds, CHTs stay the same.
Relatedly, what’s with the 35% mixture setting on takeoff in the manual? That doesn’t sound right.
Also, tip that addresses a few comments I’ve seen about the mixture axis reaching the limit on either end with a lot of room to spare on a physical controller. I had the same issue, binding to mixture axis -100%-100% instead of 0-100% fixed that for me.
Using the plungers on the V1 quadrant for my mixtures.
Hi.
There is a new update available of the Ford Tri-motor 5AT.
It has finally fixed the landing gear issues when starting the flight from the air.
It also includes a new livery. It is based on a picture that one of you sent me of him as a child looking at this plane in 1948
Kind of surprised that this update doesn’t seem to be on Simmarket yet. Was it uploaded there? (Looks great too)
I’ve been thinking. Would like a real livery for the smokejumper variant? We started flying smokejumpers for the forest service here in Missoula and the Johnson Flying Service Trimotors were key to that.
I just checked.
The upload to Simmarket failed. I am uploading it again.
Thank you for pointing this out. Sorry for the trouble.
The Smoke Jumper livery that I created was based on real photographs and artwork. If you have any other historic color photographs I would love to see them
There are a lot of really cool liveries in old photographs but they are all black and white…
Thanks! A great excuse for me to pick up Fly the the Biggest Piece Back, the story of Johnson Flying Service and the style of mountain flying he pioneered. I’ll see what I come up with.
That is GORGEOUS!
Any update on getting the Hobbs working?
Fuel system seems to have a bug. Once I switch to reserve tank the engines run even on empty.
Why do my landing gear indicators work when I use my Honeycomb Bravo? Most fixed gear aircraft don’t light them up, nor to they go red when the gear leer is moved up.
Any news on the animated chickens ? No, seriously, the propeller animation could be improved. Currently it looks like a low speed rotating propeller hub without blades. Otherwise, a superb aircraft. Thanks for all the efforts.
Just took it for a flight in FS24. Still as awesome as I remember. I know a lot of QoL improvements will becoming now that we have the sim in hand. I think it would be cool to get our copilot available since we can also turn them off now as well. My request on the paint scheme is withdrawn as yes, it was based on one of Johnsons planes. They really didn’t seem to have as standard livery. Looking forward to more flying.
