What is your Discord? The low FPS was the reason I uninstalled it
Of course, it starts with a stabilized approach. I want to be full flaps about a mile out. I went across the threshold at 95 kn and drop it to idle just prior to that point. Seems to get me down in a reasonable amount of time. It is pretty slippery though and you need to factor in that the turboprop doesnât spool all the way down for a couple seconds. So if you drop it to idle too late, youâre still Pulling the aircraft for another few hundred feet.
Iâm not complaining, Im sharing my experience as a customer, which might help people with similar preferences as me making a decision. Unless only gushing is allowedâŠ
Well, thatâs what my wife trained me to do.
Thanks Crimguy!!
I will take your guide into consideration next time.
I will rehearse a few circuits maybe.
What I normally do and what I am used to is leveling off just before the threshold and then cut the power, but yeah, the way you describe it seems the way forward with this bird.
Ok, iâll let you know about my next touchdown.
Hopefully I can impress my passengers this timeđ
Cheers
Thatâs exactly it. Was the same with the Comanche and other aircraft. The view of anyone with a minority viewpoint is seemingly always put down. Keep any negatives coming it provides balance and some perspective for those of us happy to consider most reasonable points.
Just yesterday I watched âMisdionary Bush Pilotsâ latest video and in it he mentions steam v glass and both him and his fellow pilot were both firmly in the glass camp. I think the strong reason why pilots who fly today prefer it is the situational awareness it brings. I get the information overload argument too but for me at least I think the positives out way the negatives. Still like both kinds of cockpit for the sim though.
I donât know if I like the idea of leveling off before I get to the runway unless Iâm going way too fast. Whether you have a shallow or steep approach, the issue was power management. Anybody who floats too long is coming too fast, which is very easy to do in a high-performance aircraft.
Stall speed is 68 kts (at gross I believe) so 88kts (68 x 1.3) is probably a good target.
You know I completely see your point. I donât see this gentlemanâs post is really a criticism of the product though. Just felt like he needed to get off his chest why it wasnât the product for him I suppose thatâs fine, and I understand what heâs saying when it might help educate, potential buyers. Just not sure it needs to be said?
I like glass and dials but probably prefer dials in the simulator world. This is for two reasons. First, despite the amount of fantastic work, working title, put into the G1000, itâs still not feature complete. Iâm gonna have something that awesome I want all the bells and whistles
Second, I find it very difficult to adjust things on a computer screen using my mouse. The g1000 has particularly fiddly knobs. My family already teases the living you-know-what out of me for having a yoke and a throttle quadrant - not to mention the pedals - and so Iâm not throwing them over the edge by getting more hardware.
Itâs probably why I like the GTNxi so much for navigation. Very easy and quick to enter data even while using a mouse
I think I nailed my last landing.
This time I was more aware of the stall speed.
Not to say that I wasnât the first times, but I had in mind a speed around 90 kias.
And it makes sense Ofcourse. This 90 knots is way tooo fast.
Thanks for this eye opener Crimguy.
Happy flying ![]()
I see you are starving your pax too! Keep it up.
@SimbolFSReborn just posted this on his Discord server and agreed that I could share it here as he thought all of you who have been enjoying the FSR500 should see it.
The development of this plane speaks to me because is has exactly the rabbit hole of features Iâd end up adding on just to keep learning new things beyond the plane systems and aerodynamics design. How would I make an EFB? Letâs find out. How would I add a car to pickup people in the EFB? No idea but letâs do it! Pillows, cones, other 3D objects, sure, letâs figure it out. The level of detail is amazing and I can relate to the process of how it all got in the plane.
Hahaha true. I ate all of the croissants and macarons.
Those are soo good.
Many things donât need to be said. For example, did it need to be said that my comment possibly didnât need to be said? Guess you just wanted to get that off your chest too. ![]()
Letâs not derail this any further. I said my thing, you said yours, letâs give up the stage.
Comment deleted. Thought better of it.
One of the best turboprop addons Iâve got along the Kodiak imho, really good stuff.
One remark: with OnAir it will not load the exact amount of passengers but split the load between all seats. I.e. if you got 2 passengers 100 lbs each in a 4 seats config it will just split it into 4 x 50 lbs. Unsure abt which party needs to fix this ?
