Maybe a little bit brutal and perhaps better posted on the TBM 850 thread rather than here?
As it happens I too have a preference for analogue dials but happily decided to buy this because Raul seems a great guy and looks out for his customers which to me is a very fine thing. His products are always very good too.
Trying as ever to be open minded I decided (ages ago actually) to buy the FSR 500 and despite not exactly being ‘my thing’ (not a massive lover of turbine engines either by the way ) it has now taken the place of the fantastic analogue Comanche as my ‘go to’ AC. In fact since it launched the FSR 500 is the only AC I am flying. It’s that good and to me also very immersive.
Honestly, being open minded and willing to try different things which might not be your actual ‘thing’ can often surprise you and to the case in point might actually turn out to be one of the best AC you have bought to date

Oh yippee. Not another C414 texture fest with endless screen shot after screen shot of seats and pillows.

Thank you, thank you. Now back to my usual Sunday morning of sitting down with a nice cup of tea and reading another 1000 page POH!
This comment will seem really weird to the more experienced among you:
I’ve flown planes with the G1000 before, but I usually just took off, flew around, and used HDG, VS, and ALT to manually fly to my destination.
This time I filed a LNM flight plan, and after intial climb out I used HDG to set an intercept to the magenta line, then switched to NAV.
For the first time ever I watched the AP take over and turn to follow the line.
Big smile.
I know why hand flying is fun. And it is. Now I’m getting the itch to learn AP navigation. I’m not ready for IFR yet, but someday…
I’m 99% sure I’ll be learning it in this plane. I don’t have any burning desire to fly tubeliners, but I’m starting to see the attraction of properly setting things up and watching the automation take over.

It is unfortunate that you consider the evolution of avionics as boring. Rest assured that you are missing out on many advances in this aircraft in a new era of flight simulation. Blue skies!

The Kodiak got me started on the same path. Try some RNAV/ILS approaches and SID departures. It’s fun. I still enjoy analog gauges over the G1000 for simple VFR flights, but the G1000 helps me better visualize where I need to go and what I need to do beyond a standard VFR departure and approach. And when the weather gets lousy the glass cockpits help immensely in overcoming task saturation.

If definitely reduces variety (which is the spice of life, as they say). Here, three different aircraft as steam and glass version respectively:
Yes, the analog sixpacks are pretty similar in layout, but they look quite different visually, which gives each aircraft an individual look to enjoy. Not so much with the glass.
I downloaded the FSR500 documentation last night for a quick overview (and ended up reading past my bedtime). It’s my new benchmark for sim documentation. Written by a sim pilot for sim pilots, concise, well-contextualized, blah, blah, blah. Great job and a stark contrast with the dismal documentation of another recent release.
When my work schedule returns to normal in a couple of weeks I’ll have time to put your work into good use. I’m really looking forward to learning this one (minus the VIPs…my type of flying people is me, the wife, a bag of beef jerky and a bottle of Gatorade. Oh and wife noise cancelling headphones).

Glad you liked it! Maybe someone will do a vehicle mod for a truck?
Personally, I’m more worried about how I’m going to get rid of all the dog hair?

It is the case in all areas of life that the representatives of the extremes always shout the loudest. Tolerance is not the order of the day, such people remain stubborn and are not open to new or different things. I couldn’t say whether I prefer an aircraft with an analog or glass cockpit, what counts for me is the flight dynamics and a certain system depth and function. If the model is as beautiful and realistic as this aircraft and the support is so great, you can’t go wrong.
It would be nice if people who don’t like such airplanes would just hold back a bit with their comments. Criticism, yes, but in the direction of making the existing aircraft even better and not just generally being made bad just because it has a glass cockpit. Use your energy to offer constructive criticism and help on topics related to your favorite aircraft.

All, I think the glass vs steam debate is a bit moot. This is a glass-native aircraft with all the pros and cons that come with it. Really nothing more to be said.
Fortunately, there are plenty of very well-modelled examples of both styles to choose from in the sim now and long may that continue, so we can all enjoy the kind of flying we like to do. Personally, I like both, with the Wilga my favorite when it comes to steam gauges. Some, like the BB PC-6, even offer the choice of both and its fun to see which you can fly a procedure in better.
Now, where did I leave the vacuum cleaner?

You were cleaning the pillows in the 500 as your flying put them everywhere but not on the seats
Cheers T.

Ahhhh, now I got it! Pity about the dog-slobber on the screens though
Busy day eh …?
Not only reading a 1000 page POH but now vacuuming the house.
Sundays are definitely not what they used to be

Since the update for the FSR500 it will no longer start. It did prior to the update and all other planes start as expected. Not sure whats going on.
Did you damage anything in the plane prior to updating? It stays persistent (does not reset with reinstall). Reset the aircraft from EFB as well as repair any damage and try again.
No Joy. I think I will reinstall the plane. Cant even use ctrl E
And most likely a correct one too
