I really need to study things more, I only had a quick flight today and pretty much winged it
Managed to land but had a lot of warning lights along the way. ![]()
The manual is there for a reason, it is excellent. You will enjoy reading it.
I think I had those on my first flight back in agesš. Keep going it gets more intuitive each time.
The copilot callouts are gated by user actioned things, but they can help too.
They are started off before takeoff by turning on strobes, landing lights, turning on TMS and setting it to T/O and a cabin call ping just before takeoff. Then you get the speed call outs.
On descent, I think they are based on airspeed, slow down to 220kts and click on the flipboard flaps 18 and the callouts start up flaps, gear down, localiser armed/captured, glideslope armed/captured, and a cabin call for crew tobtake seats for landing etc. It all adds a hit of ambience in the cabin too.
Iām still doing that but am progressing⦠Slowly ![]()

Itās nice to have that voice for some company after a long flight! And yes it does actually help get your timings right while concentrating on approach. Really like that part.
Warning lights? Oh⦠those?! I thought that was all just an early 80ās techno tune the copilot was playing for us with accompanying disco visuals!
Guess I should also read the manual ![]()
Iāve never actually crashed this plane though surprisingly. Itās the sign of a good addon when you can feel it enough to stay in control even when you arenāt really doing right things. Very satisfying aircraft to journey in with more depth than Iāll ever need or be able to explore. I just fly it like an enormous bush plane and it works for me ![]()
Made some tests⦠for anyone whoās interested:
At about 73% N1 it will hold level flight with flaps 18ā¦
And, on the glide slope with gear down and flaps full, it will slow down to VREF in conjunction with the speedbrakes.
It may not be standard procedure but can help whoās bothered with moving the throttle up and down the whole approach phase.
Edit: 146-300 close to MLW
Agreed, itās somewhat rough, but decent enough that I can mind it. Iām using the ORBX EGLC and itās amazing. No crashes there yet whatsoever in the 146. And honestly on approach to EGLC in the 146 my hands are so full anyways that iām not nitpicking the scenery all that much haha
Thank you! Iāve been fighting the throttle and elevators to stay on the GS. Can you elaborate a bit on what you meant by āin conjunction with speedbrakesā? Iām assuming you mean that youāre extending them to hold your VREF (i do this too approaching at EGLC as itās a 5 degree slope).
Yes, that right, at 73% N1 the aircraft will maintain VFTO with flaps 1 at flight level. Then, when you capture the glideslope, use the speed brakes to help the aircraft slow down to VREF as you extend the flaps, this should work with minor adjustments. Give it a try!
It has probably already been mentioned but JustFlight has a fantastic tutorial series on the 146.
If there is one very small thing jf could look to do in any future updates⦠only if its something not bogged deep down in codingā¦
Just ever so slightly⦠dumb down the cp announcements should you forget something such as telling cabin crew to prepare for takeoffā¦
It feels so quite when you come in for approach and you hear nothing because of forgetting the strobes until takeoff and messingbup the triggers ![]()

Oh Iāve tried that two engine taxi as well⦠I can certainly see why you need two in the cockpit as Iām always vearing off the runway when turning on the other two engines⦠![]()

Do they have to turn off the ac and ptu along with the tms when you turn on the other engines during taxi like you do on initial start up?
I learned a lot from these videos. Theyāre brilliant.
Neither have I yet, Iām wondering if there is a setting to enable damage and stress in the aircraft as havenāt heard any stress noises yet.
I do have damage enabled in the sim settings.
Youāre doing very well not to have heard the stress noises⦠Itās kind of a metallic sound and happens to me when Iām close to max speeds.
I noticed something last night - the rain stains on the windows - I was setting off from EBBR and the light caught them - itās little details like this and the internal texturing that push this plane into being my favourite plane in MSFS overall.
Might need my volume a little higher, but do you know if there is any settings on the tablet that you can enable/disable stress damage and wear and tear?
I have the milviz 310r and that has separate settings on the in flight tablet.
Just started watching them very interesting watch, as much as I donāt mind reading a manual I much prefer watching tutorial videos to get a basic understanding.
Not sure what Iām doing wrong but the other day I got request for IFR plan from ATC, today I can only get request straight out departures.
This worked very well. Iāll bring it down to 62% when Iām descending from say FL200 down to approach altitude (for whatever ILS approach iām on) and then once I get to that altitude I bring it back up to 73% once I have 18 flaps down. From there itās really easy to maintain that speed and pull more flaps and land at my VREF+10 with a little speedbrake intervention. Great call on 73% thatās right on the money. Since doing that my approaches are far more stable.
Still having trouble with this, when I import the flight plan from SB I notice it never adds the SID, its just a direct departure.
So I normally execute the plan, and after I go to departure/arrival tab and select the SID, and then press execute again.
Do you get the SID when you import or do you have to add it in after as well?
Perhaps thats why Im not getting the option from ATC.
How does it compare to Aerosoft CRJ?
I enjoyed JRollonās CRJ200 on XP10 a lot and looking for something similar.
Aerosoft CRJ seems to be the way to go but I heard somewhere that Aerosoft CRJ is now de facto āabandonwareā while BAE146 keeps getting better.
Or should I wait for AvroRJ?
