RELEASED! Just Flight Bae146 "the Little Jumbojet" April 29th

Nah. Who cares about trivial stuff like that, when they can simply just ‘learn to texture a cockpit’

Personally bit disappointed to see the PL21 FMS from the CJ4 instead of something like the custom Universal FMC you get on the x-plane version.

I was also surprised to see the WT FMS, although tbh I don’t know what kind of fms the real ones have.

From what I’ve read, the original 146’s did not come with any fms at all, and it’s just in the later years that operators started adding their own. Does anyone know what kind of fms the real ones use?

Also, in the product page details I see that only LNAV is supported. There is no mention of VNAV. I haven’t had a chance to study how to fly this plane yet, but is that accurate? No VNAV will definitely give a more manual and oldschool feel to the plane, although it might restrict flying in online networks a bit especially those with quite advanced STARs.

The UNS by Universal Avionics Systems was retrofitted on several 146s from what I understand and JF did model this for their 146 for X-plane, although I think it came some time after the initial release.

I like the CJ4 FMS, the proline 21 is great and I really enjoy using it in the CJ4 (and even more so in the Xplane Challenger 650). But it would be nice to have something a little bit more old school and quite frankly different just for variety’s sake. I saw a post on the WT discord from a user, I think a screenshot from facebook with someone from JF saying other options including the UNS and GTN 750s would be coming so thats encouraging. I hope its not like a year away though.

Actually, it is the CJ4 one. It’s literally the WT CJ4 fms system, it says so in the screenshots.

Getting a little worried, especially since the product page changed.

Definitely disappointing that the FMC seems to be not as in depth as the X-Plane version, and features from the X plane version are not here in the MSFS version.

I’m wondering if there is anything to be really worried about regarding this very small pothole in the grand scheme of things…

I’m buying the 146 purely for my new found addiction on the good old fashioned VOR flying and,
from what I find somewhat alittle more clunky FMS/GPS from the CJ4 than other various, current FMS/GPS functions found within sim on other current aircraft…
It will hopefully reduce any lingering tendency for me to use any other IFR guidance apart from the VOR NDB…

I’d much rather fly this jet tomorrow fortnight (fingers crossed…" and have this FMS fall back…
Should I really need it and I really want to do real world weather but my selected airport is weathered in and below the VOR minimums (or if it has no radar coverage) and I need to fly a Rnav…
Than wait for another two to three weeks… (which is roughly a year when you convert it to an teased with “New aircraft coming soon…” highly impatient and blood thirsty MSFS community) for JF to create a purely offical “BAe146” FMS system…

A320 simpilot and the like, has shown us many videos, many work arounds of those guys flying older VOR/NDB only jets (737-200) on a very understanding VATSIM community… (could be something that Navigraph, with the money that we invest in… ) looks into re-creating old VOR departures for all airports for history buffs to be able to fly these aircraft…

WE MSFS COMMUNITY…
Like those many airlines that could not wait any longer for a FMS capable glass cockpit RJ-100s/BAe 146 and needed those analog VOR NDB IFR only BAe 146, NOT NOW but…
YESTERDAY… and can wait another decade for that technology to catch up…

JustFlight…

My $$$$$:money_mouth_face::money_mouth_face: is ready for you baby!!!
Give it to me now!!!

I loved your posted Ansett New Zealand livery, I beg you pardon… I mean Cobham livery above…:wink::wink:

I really don’t mind the (temporary) FMS solution, the WT work is excellent and I enjoy using it in the CJ4. Here is the official explanation from JF, off Facebook:
“What you see is what it will ship with. As the 146 was originally launched with only the means for conventional (VOR/NDB) navigation, and later retrofitted with a variety of GPS/FMS units for greater flexibility. Our 146 will release with an FMS that is based on the popular WT unit, modified for suitability with the 146 avionics and autopilot, providing full LNAV functionality, SID/STARs, MSFS and SimBrief flight plan support etc. As with all our MSFS aircraft, we will continue to introduce new features over time, including different FMS/GPS units such as the commonly fitted UNS-1 and even the GTN 750 (as fitted to some current firefighting 146 aircraft), providing you with even greater customisability of your aircraft.”

Oh, and the future GTN750 option should make those happy who were asking about a visual representation of the flight plan, I guess.

Not sure you have much to worry about but of course we accept there will always be some who won’t be 100% happy on release. To clarify about the FMC we’ve taken the route we have for good reasons.

Originally launched with only the means for conventional (VOR/NDB) navigation, the 146 was later retrofitted with a variety of GPS/FMS units for greater flexibility.

Thanks

Fair enough. Not sure what your worry is though, in truth. A working FMC will be more than sufficient, surely.

And there were many complaints about the X-Plane version too. We’ve gone with this one initially for good reason,it’ll be perfect for many users. Features from the X-Plane version not here in the MSFS version? What about all those that are in this version that didn’t make it into the X-Plane version. Tons of new features an improvements. All listed in this downloadable PDF:

And to clarify the FMC situation:

The 146 originally launched with only the means for conventional (VOR/NDB) navigation, it was later retrofitted with a variety of GPS/FMS units for greater flexibility. Our 146 will release with an FMS that is based on the popular WT unit, modified for suitability with the 146 avionics and autopilot, providing full LNAV functionality, SID/STARs, MSFS and SimBrief flight plan support etc.

It’s because you folks are exceptionally good at what you do, that you’ve made a rod for your own back here. People now expect you to manufacture a full 1:1 scale model of the 146 complete with custom made FMC and working weather radar, all for £49.99.

Or, it could just be that people in general just have very unrealistic expectations of what is possible from a home computer flight simulator that has nowhere near the complexity or computing power of a level D simulator.

I think it’s probably more of the latter haha.

I’m happy, the FMS will never be powered on for me, it will be Pooleys and Nav aids :+1:

Looking forward to it, she looks great.

Because this is Just Flight, I trust that they really will continue to support this product with the changes promised. So far, Just Flight have been one of the highest quality devs for MSFS.

Any chance you could explain what the “good reason” was?

That is all. Thank you.

Any news when this will be on the Marketplace?

Are you a pc user ? If yes I recommend buying on the justflight store. You get an email when a new version is out and their installer works very easily, no need to uninstall the old version first.
