I just want to have it all in one place. Which is the msfs marketplace for me.

Same for me

I just want to have one platform to manage all aircraft

EXACTLY.

After fsx, p3d and xp11. I grew tired of having addons from multiple websites/accounts/updaters. I hated taking a break from flight simming then getting back into it only to have to deal with a re-validation pop ups for my addons preventing me from playing til I spent 30+ minutes digging up account credentials and relevent product keys (this was especially annoying with xp11).

When MSFS launched I decided to stick to the in-game marketplace exclusively and it’s been pretty great despite the imperfections imo. I look forward to getting the BAE 146 on it when it arrives. Hopefully sooner rather than later.

All that is great, but you are then at the mercy of Microsoft as to when you get updates. Personally, if a problem arises, and the developer has patched it, I’d rather have it as soon as possible rather than waiting weeks. Each to their own.

The thing about the in game marketplace is that there is often a price premium levied for aircraft. Not always, but I’ve seen significant differences between in game price and developer website price (25-30% more in some cases). So it’s always worth checking first. That’s quite a premium for convenience. I mainly buy aircraft direct but airport scenery in game.

From what I understand above, there will one day be a built in GTN, which is superb. Now, thing is, that I already use the TDS GTN750xi on a standalone touchscreen and wonder if on release, the aircraft will allow that to be used? Any clues or steers on this would mean an instant buy for me.

In the case of Just Flight we have to give Microsoft the dollar price that we sell at. When they then sell the same product from the MP they match but conjure up their own prices for other currencies. They are always higher than the prices that we sell at for those other currencies. There’s little we can do about that it’s just the way it is.

That explains it, but it can seem a bit strange at times. As consumers it’s worth checking up on before buying. I do prefer buying direct from devs though.

One of the huge problems with the marketplace is that it encrypts all files. While it is understandable from an anti-piracy standpoint, it’s literally a modding killer. People have been constantly messing with files to come up with countless free mods ending up on flightsim.to in order to improve planes, their visuals, correct some things on flight models, add new possibilities etc.

For example, I myself came up (initially just for my own use) with AI enhanced and upscaled textures for PA28 Arrow for example, greatly reducing the blurs and pixelations of close up cockpit textures. Some people have changed the VC textures colors. Some people came up with a way of dampening the Arrows atrocious pendulum motion at low speed during approach via editing the flight model cfg files. And countless examples like this, including new ideas that wouldn’t have been expected to initially be possible, new unexpected ideas that comes up to people while they fiddle with files experimenting.

If the marketplace becomes the norm at some point, you can basically kiss all those mods goodbye. Plain and simple. Marketplace encrypts everything, just like the MSFS deluxe/premium specific planes are. Trust me, should Asobo had decided back then to encrypts also the base plane, you wouldn’t even have had the FBW A320, and nothing from the Working Title community nor the PMS50 GNS before Asobo even knew that there could have been such a community capable of doing this to begin with…

So as an occasional modder, I will NEVER buy anything that is marketplace only or actively strive to become marketplace only at some point. Look how few mods have been made for the deluxe/premium planes of MSFS compared to the WT CJ4 and the FBW or the like? look no further why…

Bit cheeky here of me, @SinewyDolphin74 but as you guys did mention the F28 development is somewhat related to the Bae146, in terms of planning, I’m curious if a development update would/could/should be expected soon?

I’ll promise to be patient overall, I’m just very very eager to fly both of these beauties.

In short, not not yet. The 146 needs to be wrapped, released and then any post-release issues dealt with. Lack of resource in-house the ongoing situation unfortunately. Thanks for your patience.

@SinewyDolphin74

Are we will on track for this week release of the Bae 146?  :star_struck:

Will you not have enough to contend with this week when SU9 release tomorrow :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
I usually need about a week for any sim update to settle down to a steady state…

By and large, patience is not something that seems to exist in the modern day human, my friend.

Is there any possibility this beauty comes to Xbox too? As I know Just Flight Hawk T1 is only for PC…

Not all.
Most of them could work with marketpalce (include wt and pms50)
For example, the texture mod in flightsim.io of pa28 can use for the marketplace version

they can work alright, sure, but they only exists in the first place because people started to experiment with files that were not encrypted in the first place! A product only ever released on the marketplace will have its content encrypted right away, killing any attempt to experiments one day or another with it…

It’s PC only because of coding issues. Once that’s fixed, it should appear on Xbox. Should possibly be fixed for SU10, from what we’ve heard. Until then, it won’t be on Xbox.
