[RELEASED] Kennedy Space Center VAB area detailed scenery, including launch complex 39A (SpaceX) and 39B (NASA Artemis/SLS)

Correct - we are in a holding pattern for V1 (no launches) for 2024. Not sure what the hold up is. Sorry, but that’s all I have.

For V2, when it is ready, we will submit simultaneously for 2020 and 2024. For 2020, the process is simple, we just need to test it ourselves, and give it a go ahead. But for 2024, MS needs to convert it for 2024 compatibility (LOD system needs to be adjusted) and then it is tested by us, given a go ahead, and then released.

Version 2, and ALL other subsequent versions, are, and always will be, FREE!

Does that mean if you bought v1 for msfs 2020 and you then release v2 for 2024, v2 is free or only v2 free on msfs 2020 if bought for msfs 2020?(post above didn’t seem obvious to me)

TBDevTEAM explained in the post directly above yours. Personally I am waiting for it to be available in the 2024 market place and as soon as it is I will buy it. My wallet is not fat but it’s wide open for this developer.

OK:

You need to make ONE purchase. After that, everything - versions and platforms - is free.

Experimenting with a new type of smoke sprite…

Aaaand… a bit of a progress with night launches!!

We are getting ready to wrap up the V2 of Kennedy Space Center! The night time launch VFX are the best that we could do with the existing features in Asobo’s VFX editor - hopefully they add some functionality soon so that we can re-visit the night time VFX and make it look even better.

Also, we added some exciting new functionality: Now, you can select where you want the rocket to spawn. Of course, you can still select “RANDOM” spawning, as before.

Plus - we added a new “high definition” launch smoke cloud sprite, as you can see from the latest screenshots and the videos below. However, we added an option to keep the original launch cloud look, because we know people will have their preferences! So, the choice is up to you!

Here is a comparison of 2 launch louds, old one, and then the new one:

And here are some daytime and nighttime launch videos, with the new “high definition” launch cloud:

Seems like this new version was made for 2020 (but will work in 2024) - any chance the better VFX you’re hoping for might exist exclusively in the 2024 SDK?

That’s the $60K question, isn’t it? Asobo did a pretty good job of converting V1 for 2024, but V1 didn’t have any VFX. I am hoping it will go smoothly (the conversion), otherwise they would have a lot of cranky developers on their hands…

As far as better VFX in 2024, I really didn’t look into the 2024 VFX editor yet.

All looks very very nice

We are prepping V2 marketplace assets for the release, which include a few 4K screenshots for the main page background. Things look even more defined in 4K. The smoke sprites get a whole new level of definition when in 4K resolution. Check it out:

I appreciate the huge amount of work put in this spacecraft simulation. Nevertheless imho the exhaust flames should be melted/mixed better with the smoke sprites at their lowest end, for the sake of realism (likely a difficult task to achieve). Forgive my ignorance anyway.

Yes… The SRB flame straight out of the nozzle should be white-bright, and then blend into a darker exhaust plume.

And, trust me - exactly that IS one of the things (some night launch VFX as well) on our plate that we are trying to figure out, but we decided to draw the line, otherwise, this will just keep getting postponed if we try to perfect everything.

Can’t believe with all my hours on these forums, I’m just seeing this now. Looks absolutely fantastic and will purchase as soon as released for 2024. Wish you’d consider releasing on Contrails/Orbx/IniBuilds/SimMarket as I’m not a huge fan of the MP but will need to make an exception for this.

Looks amazing!

Ok, no worries, just visuals

Hi everyone! Good news: KSC Scenery V2 for 2020 has been submitted to MS for Marketplace ingestion. Also, V1 for 2024 seems to have been stuck in their process somewhere, so given the situation, they will remove it from the process, and proceed to port V2 straight to 2024, and into the Marketplace. Hopefully this time it fares better, and we may have V2 for both 2020 and 2024 released simultaneously.

In the last few days, we added more functionality and options on the in-game user interface panel. You can now:

  • Explicitly choose where you want your rocket to spawn (while retaining the random placement functionality)
  • switch between “old” and “new” style VFX
  • switch on/off rocket exhaust trail (for performance reasons)
  • switch on/off a rocket white hot exhaust VFX that is visible immediately trailing the rocket engine.

The last item is a new, last minute feature that @ricdpm asked for a few posts back. It is not perfect and it is a work in progress, but it is there should users prefer to launch with it.

Sharing here a quick WIP of the VERY TRICKY plume exhaust VFX, that we think is finally starting to look decent. We managed to create a bright VFX for the immediate white-hot engine exhaust that blends the 3D bright flames, and is then combined with a long-lasting darker plume trail. I’ll post a video of this soon.
