Oh totally missed that. OK, thank you friend!!
I started to fly the Maddog after about 20 min of loading for the first time.
During the flight i noticed some strange repeating noise with a 1s interval and later on permanent repeating voice announcement (ATC?, Pilot?) of altitude and heading. The noise stops for a while when pressing the highlightet transmit button on the audio control panel. But the voice starts over and over again.
Maybe it“s just a Noop error from me as the pilot but it sucks. Any comments would be helpful.
I might be going crazy as I cannot find this option. I recall seeing this somewhere but now cannot find it. Could have confused with something else but Iāve only flown this aircraft the past few days.
To all texture critics: the Leonardo Maddog was the first P3D addon to be fully PBR, yet to the extent P3D could manage that in terms of memory.
Donāt you think this particular developer is ambitious to bring this around again on a platform that can support it all? Untill then, 70% look great, 20% look fine and 10% a bit quick. Big freakin deal.
Why are you so offended that people are disappointed with the textures exactly? If youāre not bothered by them⦠great⦠good for you. Go and enjoy.
Iād honestly be more worried if the geometry were off, rather than the textures. Textures are a much easier āfixā and can be done by the many talented painters within the community. The 3D model itself canāt (especially if itās payware) and were a much more difficult fix.
So⦠we pay 90 eur and let the community fix the textures? Interesting proposal
I think for quite some parts the texture is actually related to the 3D model also, say if the screws are modelled in or just a paint drawing on a flat surface, it seems to me that quite some are drawn up and it will always have some angles looking weird and flat.
Itās ok to have such minor texture imperfections IMO, but since euro 75 exclude tax is a bit steep for me so I will personally wait and see if it gets better or cheaper before pull out my credit card
For a $100 Aircraft, the sounds should have been much much better. JT8Dās really wine and thats not showing here. Plus also the cockpit lighting should be independent on each side. Iām really hopeing they can address theses issuesā¦
Anyone have any links to some good youtube video tutorials on this yet? I can see some that relate to the P3D or even FSX versions, but only one for MSFS that I can see (in English - I see one in German and one in Spanish):
This one is great, but only covers getting started really
Had the same issue (just one flight so far). Sounds like ATC is repeating itself continiously. Donāt know where it comes from.
If dev said that they will improve the texture I will buy it now.
If not I may get it when it is OK
I am a little disappointed with the price, too high for me. It is not possible for an add-on to cost more than the simulator itself.
I really like MD-80 but will not buy it. 60 euros for me would be the right price but 90 is too much and Leonardo would earn more and attract more people with a lower price, but thatās just my opinion
I agreeā¦pass for me
good review here by real life pilotThe Most Expensive Addon in MSFS - but is it the Best? | Leonardo MD-82 āMaddogā Full Review - YouTube
I decided to buy the maddog rather than the BAE146 since in my country, BAEs didnāt fly at all. Iād been flying the concorde mainly, so I find the textures niceā¦
Itās interesting how I feel people are saying āBAE146 is a better product than MD80ā but if you look at vatsim, there are more MD82s flying than BAE146s.
for me also too expensive with 90 Eur. the full sim was 60 EUR. old aircraft. in addition we are supposed to buy a soundpack on top ?!
p3d was very small market but msfs market is much bigger, this should be reflected in the price.
if you ask for VR you get an answer ā¦oh you know its from p3d you knowā¦
no product description at all.
sorry no.
curios what PMDG decides on the price. do they want a lower price than the maddog ? people could get impression, lower price - inferior product.
I hate comparing products, especially when theyāre both phenomenal. But, since you asked for itā¦
For starters, BAE146 does not have:
- In depth Performance Calculator w/ TO Flex calculations
- Failure Simulation
- Fully functional FMS
The systems on the MD-80 are just another level above. Itās hard to explain. The attention to detail is on another level. The flickering of the needle when switching between probe heaters. The PA announcements when performing the Emergency Lights Test.
Sure, if you normally spend your time counting rivets or Flying with the viewpoint an inch from the panel you may be disappointed. But, the vast majority of people are satisfied with this aircraft for what it is and the care that went into crafting it. If you would purchase it and fly it for yourself, rather than focusing all of your attention on a window spring and/or external gear bay, maybe you would as well.
Be nice to have one that is cleaner, and looks nicer inside⦠There are some nice examples of non beaten up cockpits still flying around.
I cant beleive a real life pilot who does not update the Nav Data! and also says it is fairly typical of the sim⦠Its typical if you dont have a Navigraph Sub. Not arguing with a IRL Pilot, but that is not accurate information.
Also the external app does the same as the EFB for the most part, and you dont need to reload the flight, you press Sync or Save and syc⦠You obvisouly dont make changes during a flight. Again nor going argue with a IRL about actually flying a plane, but some of it is just wrong.
That is exactly what the problem is with the Maddog, itās the geometry that needs to be fixed and they try to cover it by creating āfakeā shadows on 2D geometry. We actually worded it wrong, textures are good overall (90%) but theyāre painted on poor/lack of geometry. No wonder the performance is amazing with this aircraft.
