Make sure your assist settings are TRUE TO LIFE as otherwise the aircraft will not interact well with the moving surfaces.
Since there is a listed pre-requisite of having the Top Gun DLC in order for Super Carrier to work properly, I wonder if the announcement by Jorg in the Q&A today that the DLC will be delisted from the marketplace starting 05/25/24 due to licensing will affect owners that arenât able to get the DLC after that date?
We are actively communicating with Asobo to find a solution to this issue. Will keep you all posted when I have news.
Excellent, glad to hear your pro-active response to this! Thinking when they announced it, I would hope they could keep the F18 and Carrier and just remove all of the Maverick specific branding, if that would be possible. (But, RIP Darkstar!)
Thank you again for the fast response.
All this delisting BS in the industry needs to stop. Itâs like you are having time bombs sitting in your library with no idea when they will go off.
If they can provide something like the Top Gun DLC for a limited time only, they shouldnât even bother. There is a saying in Germany: a gift is a gift, taking it back is theft.
I guess we can expect the Ornithopter to go the way of the Dodo soon too, right?
You do realize that the Top Gun and Dune DLCs were completely free of charge, right?
In my humble opinion, calling the delisting of a free product âtheftâ is just ridiculous.
Exactly this.
If by soon you mean 2 years, probably. MSFS doesnât own these things. And as someone pointed out, theyâre free.
The issue here is movie licensing, no such thing as perpetual licensing in the movie industry. So anything with the âTop Gun/Maverickâ name on it , or that makes reference to the movie has to go.
That means goodbye to the Darkstar, unfortunately. However, I had a chat with the Microsoft/Asobo guys and carriers donât really need to be affected as it has no branding on it. Working to make any changes necessary with their help, but rest assured this will not affect Supercarrier Pro (or any other Miltech carrier product) in any way.
Itâs a proverb, calm down.
âGeschenkt ist geschenkt, Wiederholen ist gestohlen.â
Supercarrier Pro update coming later this week - Will announce the changelog shortly before the update is released. Also happy to confirm that Supercarrier Pro wonât be affected with the removal of the Top Gun expansion - we may perhaps need an update to address a couple changes, but functionality will remain unaffected.
Your communication is second to none. Thank you for always keeping us in the light with your products!
Has the long startup time issue been resolved with the Marketplace version?
There is an update being processed by MS that solves the issue (V1.2.2). Should be released on the Marketplace in a few days.
Yeah. And itâs been available for so long. Also Jorg said it is still usable as long as you download it before the date. So why are people getting upset? Just go download it.
And as V1.2.2 of Supercarrier Pro (soon to be released on the Marketplace), TopGun is no longer required for the product to function correctly.
Sorry for the late reply but will the amphibious carrier group be updated to also not require TopGun? The Orbx product page still lists TopGun as a requirement.
I was trying to do some carrier landings with the Heatblur/IndiaFoxtEcho F-14 today. I used the moving carrier in the English channel. Every time I made a successful capture my F-14 was launched backwards off the deck. Is that normal for the moving carrier and should I use a static one instead? Or is this not supposed to happen? Does anyone know?
There was 7 knot wind and I aligned the carrier with the wind direction before trying to land.
Yes. It happens with the moving carrier. You either have to hold the brakes or keep some forward thrust to counter the force moving you back. It is a limitation of the sim with the placement of aircraft on a moving ship I believe .
This is in fact due to the IFE arrestor cable physics conflicting with our custom âmodern arrestorâ physics.
Both are essentially doing the same - injecting custom physics to slow down the aircraft, resulting in âdouble the effectâ. As someone suggested, holding the brakes should help, however, it is best practice when using any IFE aircraft to:
- Land without tailhook extended AND using modern arrestors - this will deactivate IFE tailhook physics
OR - Land with tailhook extended AND modern arrestors off - this will bypass any carrier physics and use the IFE arrestor simulation instead
