[Released on PC and Xbox] DC Designs Aérospatiale/BAC Concorde

I think we are also here to help each other. The product is not bad and I’m glad the Concorde exists! For me it’s a pleasure if you can help the developers maybe improve some things so they can perfect their work/product.

MAX CRUISE will govern velocity based on fuselage temperature as well as other factors - if you’re too hot, Concorde will slow down to prevent overheating. There are many factors at work with Concorde and in real life she often didn’t cruise at Mach 2 or at FL600 due to the atmosphere being too warm - all in the manual.

@ElvishSiamang18 ILS has been tested literally dozens of times, at multiple airports, and without fail always captures the localiser and glideslope. There is only so much we can do before we reach the point where we know that Concorde works. Follow the interactive checklist procedure - it’s there for a reason.

Yeah thats what I thought but I was at 50,000 and way under TMO at the time, the only time autothrottle and max cruise works for me is when I’m at 60,000 it holds M2.04 so I was wondering if it was something to do with altitude?

Also when it Concorde was first release l wasn’t able to make 60,000 every time on transatlantic (which I know was true on the real Concorde) but now I’m able to make 60,000 everytime with ease

Do not use the VOR LOC if you want a reliable approach, like a ILS approach. It does not reliably follow the localizer (whithout having to try flicking the switch back and forth, which defeats the purpose).

Like Dean says, just use GLIDE as soon as you are within the range of the ILS localizer.

I will be purchasing this today (Xbox) and I am looking forward to learning how to fly it properly. I have been following this thread and I must say I am impressed by the developer and how they are bending over backwards for pilots on here to help fly her.

You can’t please everyone, but I sure hope most will see how awesome their responses are and how engaged they are in here. Great stuff!

Coming back to the Mach-HOLD problem, I found the following. Since some additional indicators are still missing, it would be easier to see where my optimal speed is. I hope that it will be perfected at some point, but until then, I’ll still enjoy the plane.

Gonna try with 1.0.3 today.

I have one more question! How do I get out of the red zone? It lights up “Press”! Is it simulated or does it have to be in the red? Thanks for help!

Where can I download the manual for Concorde? I didn’t see it in this thread.

Thanks!

It’s in the Documents folder within your community folder one Concorde is installed

e.g. G:\MSFS2020\Community\dcdesigns-aircraft-concorde\Documents\Concorde

I’m on Xbox sorry, should have mentioned that. No community folder.

Just got this and is not running smooth at all. Lots of sound crackle, stutter and frame rate drops on XBSX.

Oh, sorry. Then I don’t know. I could share it here, but @DEAN01973 should maybe do that or confirm access for xbox users.

This gauge means the internal pressure is too high for the altitude you are at. You probably climbed too fast. Adjust the gauge at the bottom row, middle to below 0 a bit using the “R” knob and the pressure will drop below 10.

Since I’ve gotten the hang of it I haven’t had any problems using VOR LOC with the Concorde. It’s not perfect, but for the price they are charging it is well worth the quirks. Just practice and you’ll get the hang of it.

The very last paragraph In the area for Aircraft Systems there is a link for the manual. (I tried a direct link but this site did not like that)

Just tried out 1.0.3.

Seems like I’ve got a buggy install. I follow check-list as given (thanks for this btw, really useful! ) and plane climbs to FL60. BUT the air speed then keeps dropping.

I pressed MAX Cruise when the checklist says to do so and I moved the engine mode as well. But nothing could get the speed back up. The speed was at ~550Knots and then dropped and kept dropping all the way to ~250 knots.

I followed the checklist to the letter. So not sure what is causing it. Going to reboot my PC and try again.

A few shots on Xbox.

Concorde could not always make Mach 2 and FL600 - if she is beyond her capabilities, such as too heavy or the airframe too hot, MAX CRUISE will seek to slow her down. Best guess is you were too high too early. I would aim for FL 500 as per the checklist initially, engage CRUISE there, and see how you go. before climbing in small steps higher. If reheat gets engaged, you’re too heavy and too high, so level off again and stay there for a while.

Concorde only ever reached Mach 2.04 and FL600 at the end of her flights when most of the fuel was burned off, and even then only on routes over the tropics. Concorde rarely reached Mach 2 or FL600 on the JFK routing, the atmosphere was always too warm ( same in MSFS which is very accurate in this regard when using real weather ).
