Never been so hyped about msfs plane. I’ve seen Wilga many times over my house and now i’ll be able to fly it in the sim. I can’t wait to buy it, hope it’ll be this Thursday

Hah Really? Well I guess that’s there for people who want to use it then. I’m kinda with the guy who says planes are the way they are.

Where have you guys been flying? I grabbed this Malawi pack and found some hippos yesterday.

Also, just have to say I love that you can fly this plane with the doors removed. Awesome in VR, when you want max visibility.

So what kind of fuel flow are you guys getting at these settings from the manual?
75% Throttle (6 inmm MP) 1860 RPM (Normal cruise)

Note this will also depend on the engine. Fuel burn is by the Horsepower. So 6 inmm MP with 1860RPM will give you a different burn between the 35A (260HP) and 35X (450HP), for example. In other words also, the 35X burns more at max power then the 35A.
Range will be the same though (for same speed/power). If maximum range on a 35A is achieved with 60% throttle and 1730 RPM, you will have identical range and fuel burn in a 35X (or 80X) when you simply throttle down more such that you have the same Horsepower (and same speed).
For reference, 60% throttle and 1730RPM (Economy Cruise) gives you about 132HP at sea level in the 35A (361nm / 670km range).
The only Wilga that has a bit shorter range (11% or so?) is the Seaplane (285HP) due to the much higher drag and increased weight.

I think i read somewhere that published fuel consumption is an insanely high 14-22gph. This ain’t a rotax ;-D

I’m sorry, didn’t include which one. The 80x. I usually run normal cruise and lean for around 10 to 12 gph at 5000ft.

In the 80X with 6MP and 1860RPM I’m getting about 25gph with mixture set for max power (275HP), gets you to 110kts. When leaning a lot to about 14gph you’ll fly at 98kts or so (200HP).
Equivalent settings in a regular 35A would give you about 30-35% less burn.

Thats about what I’m getting as well as far as speed goes. Just trying to get a little more range out of this bird.

What do you think about moving CG slightly to the left?

I think it can also help eliminate the tendency to drop the right wing during a stall.

That would make the flight model less realistic. Just use the aileron trim bindings, if you need to level it out. Or do it with pilot / copilot weights.

I think the easiest and possibly best solution is to have a hidden lvl button so you can essentially engage an autopilot when you get tired of fighting the tendencies of the plane, need to use the head etc… the JF arrow has a similar feature but limited to altitude hold, which is to supplement the single axis autopilot.

Problem I have with using trim bindings - if I have studied this plane enough - is that the plane doesn’t traditionally have trim tabs for aileron or rudder. Which is the feature equivalent of changing the C/G in my opinion. On a more practical front is that there is no indication of where your tabs are set - disregarding any aids/overlays.

I don’t blame the devs obviously. The MSFS flight model parameters seem to lack flexibility in certain aspects.
