Yeah I feel like my failed attempts on starting the engines were due to not being able to fully prime the engine due to the mouse dragging angle being hard to master. So maybe it was not primed correctly.
Some things to check in this situation:
- Check the clipboard to make sure you have full fuel tanks (don’t forget to click ‘Make It So’, then it will take some time for Jack to fill your tanks and you should be good to go)
- Check that your engine selector is set to BOTH
- Check fuel tank selector is not in the OFF position
- Make sure you have your mixture full rich and the throttle cracked 10%
I hope one of these helps
There is definitely an issue with CTDs.
Try use the instrument view on Ctrl+1 and see if it’s any easier for you then. ![]()
I’ve been testing this aircraft for months and can confidently say I’ve not had a single CTD… Recommend trying with a weather preset and/or dial back your graphics or traffic settings and see if it reoccurs.
You can always use the VFR map.
I 100% agree with this. I feel that the Staggerwing and Goose do this better. You click the primer and wobble pumps and they actuate. No need to drag.
This is my only complaint with the plane otherwise.
I agree. Making them work with just a click would be nice. Dragging works, but is a bit awkward, even in VR.
I’m having the same problem. I follow every guide precisely but my engines just won’t play ball when I try to mesh. The odd thing is that they were working fine previously until one caught fire, now neither work no matter what I do. Did a reinstall and the issue persists.
How will we find out about future updates? On your website or through the forums here?
I am sure the devs will keep us updated on this Forum and their website.
Its no different from any other 3rd party Aircraft.
Check your fuel. After first flight i always start with no fuel.
You need to fill tank in planes clipboard and click ‘make it so’. Dont use ingame menu with slider like in other planes it will not work. Also if you have honeycomb alpha or other hardware with magnetos set them to both there even you did it with mouse in cockpit.
All tanks full and configured correctly. I have fuel pressure when trying to start the engines but they just don’t start.
I have the same problem, but it was honeycomb alpha magneto switch by me.
Nope. It’s a choice for developer. As an artist. If they want to present an experience, they determine how they present it. YOU (or me, or anyone else) shouldn’t have any say in that. That’s why I will always support artistic expression.
It seems that Ctrl+F10 (SET Default view) causes CTD for me…
Someone asked to see the engine fire. Here you go.
First flight attempt, left engine fire taxiing to the runway. 2nd flight, right engine fire shortly after takeoff.
Third flight, nice little cruise around the Florida Keys, successful landing as well.
I’m getting there. I agree with the other folks here who asked for some kind of feedback on what you are doing wrong when things go bad. Otherwise, I thought I was following the proper procedure, but clearly I missed something and I’m not sure what.

I hate all of you who are able to set the engines on fire. I have tried for a week straight now with no success.

I haven’t installed the release version. Or rather, I have, but haven’t launched the sim with it yet. Two issues that were there prior to release that I have noticed: upon “Restart” your fuel tanks are empty. It doesn’t initialize correctly but checking the clipboard should remedy that if you refuel.

If you don’t have success starting from cold&dark, CHECK FUEL PRESSURE as you are using the wobble. If it doesn’t rise, the fuel selectors need to be moved back and forth. Even if they are on correct setting, switch them to off then on. There were variables that didn’t initialize correctly so they needed to be wiggled. Otmar knows all about it.
Yeah I’m stumped.
Even with realistic turned off which the manual states prime and fuel pressure not checked. So should just be a crank and mesh (plus fuel valves, magnetos etc).
Only option at the moment is to start the flight on the runway
I completed two short New England flights now and haven’t been able to either. Pretty soon I’m hoping my flight time will exceed the time I spend on the ground! Practice makes perfect.
