[Released] Wing42 Boeing 247D

Something I was thinking about as I was doing some yardwork a bit ago - We’re all learning this airplane. Maybe it’s wise to de-select the failures / fires in the aircraft clipboard until we understand how it’s supposed to operate? Just thinking out loud. Seems like the complexity of the aircraft + unfamiliarity has driven a few folks to a spot where they can’t figure out what’s not working.

Lol for everyone clamoring about “we want study level! we want study level!”… well, 'ya got it, and it doesn’t require a bunch of cash to get it either!

Is anyone else having problems with the mixture levers on their Honeycomb Bravo? I’m using the same profile as the Twin Otter but I can’t seem to adjust mixture with my physical levers in the 247D. Note that I haven’t looked too deeply in it yet, maybe it’s an error on my part.

Not a Honneycomb user here, but just to double check, did you check to see if the frictionlock isn’t all the way thightened(back)?

I can check when I get back home but I can adjust them with the mouse so I guess that’s not the issue.

How to reset all controls to cold and dark?
Every time I load the plane in an airport I have all controls on (battery, magnets, lights,…).

If you shut down your aircraft properly in the previous flight it shouldn’t be an issue. It’s the only way I found to start from scratch.

No problem here using default profile.

You have a point there. And i agree on the random faults. Having those off while learning is a good idea.
However some of us are very “by the book”, or in my case perhaps a bit OCD and speaking just for myself, i have zero issues with getting it started the first try and keeping it running since i “always” manage engines and systems by the numbers.
So i am quite sure a lot of it are bugs and not so much user error.

I am familiar with these afflictions. My aviation (dispatch) experience + love for checklists and regimented procedures does the same. I was just wondering out loud.

I’ve seen someone say (can’t recall where) that the fuel position lever might not be resetting between flights? Not sure if that’s a factor, but worth considering.

OK. I’m going to try a short flight from EGMC TO EGCC. If I have no issues I’m then going to attempt the Amelia Earhart planned trip

Yep true. And there is a bug with the top one where you sellect which engine gets the fuel. Even though it was still on “both” i actually had to rotate it to get any fuel pressure. Did not manage to get the engines to start the second time and the mest started to hang when i tried to start te right engine first. restarted the flight and still no luck. Pressures and everything looked good, i cycled the mags, and magneto master switch, all fuel switches. Nothing. Wouldn’t catch.

Come to think of it, this was the Empire skin. While my first flight was the yellow observatory thingy skin.

Will have to try again tonight and see if it persists.

Since the Twin Otter is a turboprop, it uses ‘condition levers’, not ‘mixture levers’.
Duplicate your profile, and rebind the ‘condition 1 and 2 axis’ to ‘mixture 1 and 2 axis’.

I think some control states are saved as a value but visuals are not aligned.
After a lot of restarts I started left engine with magnetos in off position.
So strange.
Now, I load the plane, turn all on and off, restart and after that I can start both engine very easily.

The standard night landing outside major airports involved over flying the airfield and dropping flares on the runway believe it or not.

Thanks, that sounds right. It’s just confusing, because my Twin Otter profile works perfectly with the Grumman Goose. Oh well

Talking about repaints, is there, or will there be, a paintkit?

yay I did it. A 160nm flight from Southend to Manchester(UK) with no issues. I watched the dials like a hawk! I think the major difference to this and my engine out flight was monitoring the prop RPM. I kept it strictly within the allowed limits and on cruise didn’t allow it above 1900.

Manchester Arrival…

I like the plane but for me at least the VR Zoom function does not work in this plane and also a smaller graphical issue is with the nose open and you pan around you see right through to the ground as though there is nothing there inside.

Is anyone having problems with the plane not showing up at all in the sim? I installed to my community folder like I have with other add-ons and I don’t see it in the aircraft selection list at all.

Finally managed to cause a fire

Somehow I managed to let the left one seize up
