Yes. I see this happen every time I fly it. The needles spin around, but quickly resettle where they were. Almost like a ‘loading stutter’ or hiccup. This is the only plane that happens on.
I’ll re-check, but it looked at quick glance like there was oil. That said I have set those engines on fire a uh… few times so I should definitely double check.
Released on Marketplace now!
Marketplace is good news
Though being a WASM aircraft, I assume for PC only.
I’ve been trying to find actual routes flown by the 247D, and it’s been hard, but one route I found was Newark - Cleveland - Chicago - Oakland. And with the sensitivity and attention to oil weight that seems to be necessary, I wonder if United actually drained the oil from the engines and replaced it with appropriate oil weight for each leg of the journey?
Anyone have any insight into the actual airline maintenance practices? Also, if anyone has information on other routes the 247D flew, please provide a link or share the info.
Thanks!
That’s good info. Do you find the oil pressure stays steady for a long time, then moves rapidly? That’s what I’m finding, at least when it goes to high pressure. Much like you, my oil temps will stay between 60-80, but my pressure will suddenly be pegged.
For Store edition that is user > yourname > appdata > local > packages > Microsoft.FlightSimulator[numbers/letters] > LocalState > packages > wing42_boeing_247d > work
Yep, I’m getting a wee bit frustrated with that. The WASM issue needs sorting, or I’m out, and getting a PC. I’m getting increasingly fed up of missing out on stuff like this.
Even if it gets sorted, you’re still missing out on the entire freeware library, correct?
At the moment, until there is a proper freeware category on the marketplace, yes.
That won’t be the same thing. Even if they add it, it’s not going to be a free-for-all where small-time nobodies like myself can upload our freeware. It’ll be reserved for known developers with specific products. There’s no way they can manage the type of volume that you see over at flightsim.to.
Anyway, don’t want to derail the thread here. Finally had a great flight from Miami to Key West tonight. This is such a fantastic experience. My only big issue right now is managing oil pressure which seems to suddenly spike from time to time. I’ll be spending lots of time in this cockpit.
It’s really good.
As stated several times in this thread, there seems to be some scaling error between oil temp and viscosity. Don´t let you oil get above 100° on the gauge. Otherwise the pressure will drop and your engine will die.
247d has entered the marketplace.

Pure coincidence, but yesterday lunchtime we wander into the aircraft restoration area where I work, and I literally put my hands on a Pratt & Whitney Wasp radial engine, in this case in the nose of a T-6 Texan. What a beautiful thing…
Later on I buy and install the Boeing 247D, but for some reason it doesn’t show up in the sim. I’m clearly doing something obviously stupid, but I can’t see it. I installed to the default location which is not where the sim is, nor the community folder. What am I missing?
I’m gonna rename this plane: Boeing 247 OT-OP-CV (short for: Oil Temp - Oil Pressure - Custom View)

Hence 95% of my flight is spent looking at those gauges using a custom view shortcut
It needs to go in the Community folder, or use Addons Linker to point at the folder you have it installed to. Suggest run installer again and make a note of the default path but don’t install again, then use File Explorer to cut and paste it to where you want.
You could check here and look for airlines you knew flew the 247 and then pick the years it was in service. Some really nice route maps to apply to any historical aircraft.
I tried cutting and pasting the aircraft folder to where I normally put everything, and tried activating it with Addons Linker, but that didn’t work either. I’ll give your suggestion a try, many thanks
That’s odd. I’m not on my PC now but from memory the folder is called boeing-247d. If you find that and look inside there should be other folders and SimObjects file. Is that the folder you ticked with Addons Linker?
