[Released] Wing42 Boeing 247D

To be fair, you are talking about managing oil pressure by adjusting oil temperature variables. The bug in question is centered on the oil temperature indication. I think at this point we could all agree that there is an issue with the indication. You are correct in that it is still very possible to fly the aircraft successfully as you indicated but this does not remove the oil temp indication issue.

SA30 Oil (should be correct for air temp)
Can’t lower oil… :frowning:
What I’m doing wrong? (rpm less than 20 and throttle around 50%)

Looks like You are full rich at 8,000 feet. Leaning mixture should increase temps.

Thanks I’ll try

Close the 4 levers on the left of the landing gear: the first two are for the oil temperature, the seconds are for the engine.
The oil temps will then increase, then only manage the oil temps by looking the oil pressure: try to keep a 70 value.
(low oil temps = high pressure, high oil temps = low pressure)

Also, yeah, increase throttle to get under the white zone, set the RPM to 1900, and after that, reduce mixture until you get a light reduction in RPM, reincrease then slightly and you’re all set.

Keep an eye on the oil temps/pressure all flight and correct as needed.

Not quite. The far left two are for oil SHUTTERS, the right two are CARBURETTOR heating. Vastly different use, you do usually operate them together. Carb heat is to prevent carb icing.

Carb Heat is indeed to prevent icing, but the documentation for this plane says that in order to prevent icing inside the carb, you need to keep Carb temp at or above 100F. I think in most cases, pilots will need to use those levers to do so.

Make sure you have your engine selector set to both and your fuel tank selector on one of your full tanks. If either of these are off then you won’t be able to pump because there is no fuel in the system.

it’s called “aircraft_data.dat” and tucked away in a nest of folders which for
:
'\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState\packages\wing42_boeing_247d\work .
A might be different for others. Gonna try deleting it and see if it generates a fresh clean one.

An easy way to reset the plane is to just click all the switches and knobs a few times to reset them. Cycle the tanks and the mag switches and the cutoff switches. It will clear any starting issues that get locked in.
Not sure if this is what you meant but it is easier than deleting files.

I believe a good way to ‘reset’ the plane is to just switch everything off and refill gas and oil, or to settings you prefer for cold & dark, then just keep leaving the plane that way after every flight! =)

That’s fine if every flight ends safely!

But yes, this one’s made me disciplined about shutting down. It’s not like there’s many switches anyway.

You never leave a real life aircraft parked without shutting everything down.

But also many aircraft have a safety check as the initial part of the pre-flight where you check that everything has indeed been shutdown correctly before you even think of powering up the systems.

Here’s a question for Otmar… Is there a way that via the Clipboard we are able to “reset” everything to default parameters and “Cold and Dark” state? That would be great.

That would be a nice thing to add for those who don’t take the time to do a “cold and dark shutdown” themselves, whether because they don’t realize it’s something they ought to do or because they forgot or whatever. Sometimes I have to interrupt a flight because of family or urgent work matters to deal with including just hitting ESC to go to the menu and then closing the sim entirely. Life happens. So being able to “reset” the plane would be useful for people in similar circumstances.

But even without that option, an update to address the questions/issues with oil temps (and possibly cylinder head temps?) would be nice to see, along with fixes for the windup sounds on the right engine and the handful of other minor issues.

I see people talking about delays in various things due to changes in the sound engine - I must admit I didn’t check the patchnotes properly, is that something that happened? that might delay anyone’s updates.

I am not aware of any updates to this aircraft and I have been following along every day. I also checked the Wing42 website and their Twitter account and there is no info on either. I don’t think you missed any updates.

So after several terrific flights where the engines performed as they should with steady monitoring and adjusting of mixture and shutters, today was not so good. Both flights ended with complete engine failures and I had to put down in terrain.

Not so much fun. Oh, and my radio is not working…again. And I’ve done nothing different (that I’m aware of anyway) and all fuses check good. I dunno what goes on with these engines but they are definitely finicky. For me anyway.

A Good rule of thumb that I use is push down the two left oil levers a couple of notches as I make my approach.

Oil heats up quickly which I presume is because of the slower air speed; lowering the air flow

Does anyone know when and where to find any new updates/versions to the plane when they come out?
