Remember Microsoft Flight?

Serious question. Is this where this is heading? I’ve spent so much money in the Marketplace already and invested lots on this sim. I’m not spending a single dollar at the Marketplace until this horrible mess of a release on the PC is sorted. This sucks, was enjoying the sim so much until now. :frowning:
I’m happy for everyone who’s enjoying this disaster for the rest of us. Good for you

Well, it’s already done far more than Flight, which was destroyed by its economic model.

Similar problems occur with MSFS. To be economically viable, I think there will be either period paid upgrades a la X Plane, or a small charge to access the server.

One would expect sales to peak initially and then tail off as time goes on, as with pretty much any other game release. Cash from that is going to be limited. Taking a cut from the online store will help but is likely to be insufficient ; this was the flight problem. They gave you a very limited freebie, about the same as the XPlane demo, and you bought the rest, aircraft, scenery and so on.

So like DCS you mean? Interesting.
However MSFS willl need to step up the airplanes cause at the moment they are kind of poor in comparison to what you can get in P3D or X-Plane from third party developers. Most of the good stuff coming to MSFS are from other devs primary focusing on dedicated simmers and aviators, like PMDG, Quality Wings, Finix, FSLabs, etc.

But if this update is a view of the future then I doubt those will even come to this sim. This update is just a nice screen saver to be honest. I’m not interested in spending single dime in the marketplace if this is what it’s going to be. Oh well, was ok while it lasted. Hopefully something better will come along or they will fix this mess.

That’s the unstable SDK. There’s a lot of GA stuff and nearly but not quite jets, like the DC6. They can’t really launch a 737 or whatever yet, though I’m sure they are desperate to, because it isn’t stable enough, updates require much work. Hopefully now the other big launch is done it will start to stabilise.

PMDG posted on their forum yesterday that the 737 will be testing with the closed beta team next week. So I’m not sure where you get your info from?

But they still can’t release it yet because as you say it is about to enter beta testing stage, right?

PaulRobson8096 statement is correct and yes, PMDG is desperate to release it, lots of money to be made!

First quality jet will sell absolute shedloads. Look how popular the A320NX is.

XBox will make it worse, because I would think you wouldn’t be able to install mods the way you can on a PC (?) consoles are usually very security orientated. Maybe the user modified A320 will end up in the store with the G1000.

I don’t think Xbox has the power to run a PMDG 777 or 737. Would be interesting if they went that route, pun intended haha

I totally agree. I have easily spent over 300 euros on the Sim and content. I think this is what sets msfs apart from other AAA titles. The cost is much much higher, with the Sim essentially being a platform to use other products.
