A reminder to players with Live players active (at thsi poitn best to turn off real traffic and AI)
USe tower for clerance an hold patterns. Another player nearly crashed when I was told to approach and turn in right causing an emergency veer right off runway of a player comign in much too high nealry clipping my airbus.
No clearance don’t land. If told to hold Do your pattern. IF not sure and you are properly set for VOF TO VOF rather then straight GPS let the co pilot do it. then get in pattern.
Just wait until little Billie, in middle of nowhere Idaho, decides to alleviate the boredom of farm town life by making it his mission to ram the heck out of everyone, lmao.
My ATC is set so it detects multi. actually replaces voice with text only of players name rather than airline. IT caused a diversion of emergency systems an error as (Collision detection)
if safety systems are set in preferences for control or easier settigns it will cause yoru plane to move out of collision detection or bypass landing and do a fly around. IT depends on your system settings.
i just work around those people. like when ATC gave me the green light to land, and another plane decided to get into position to take off. just modified my landing a bit, flew right over the jet and landed a little further down the runway since ATC never told me to go around.
i enjoy the little things like that with multi player, makes the game a bit more interesting. plus it’s always amusing watching someone attempt to take off a large jumbo jet with no flaps, especially at SF International.
The only thing it is going to do is break your immersion in the game. It won’t have any effect on you physically. I have seen plenty of people fly through other airplains in the air and land and take off with other planes on the runway. You just go right through them.
If you wait around for people to do things the right way you might be waiting for a while. Too many people in multy player mode just being goof balls. The only option I can see for those that want realism is to find a server with rules and uses live ATC. And I am not really sure that is a thing yet. I personally don’t do live traffic or multiplayer though and don’t follow how that stuff is going so maybe someone is doing it now. And even then you are always going to have trolls or new people that don’t know what they are doing. I have been using sims for decades and I will be honest I don’t know enough about real flying that I would subject someone to my stupidity in the air lmao. I think if I HAD to I could fly a small plane in real life and maybe land without dying if I had help from the ground. But I assure you that you wouldn’t want to be in the air around me while I was doing it lol.
The atc is not synced between players. So you and another player can both get landing clearance for the same runway at the same time.
If you don’t like this, there are groups like vatsim and ivao where ATC is organized and players are expected to follow their instructions
I’m at that stage where I’m still too green for Vatsim, but too old for multiplayer for the reasons you mention, people being goof balls. I had someone buzz me as I was taking off from KLAS, obviously no major issue, but it’s still a PITA to look out and see someone buzzing by you at mach speed while trying to climb to cruising altitude in my grand caravan. A server that respects ATC and rules would be nice, just to carry the immersion factor to the greatest level. Then again maybe one day I’ll be ready to make the shift to Vatsim.
Just make the shift to VATSIM. The setup is fairly simple these days (used to be overcomplicated in the early days), and remember you’re talking to people pretending to be controllers but are actually just some guys sitting at home with a bag of chips and some juice; it’s all casual but we pretend to be professional.
If you tell them you’re new to VATSIM, they’ll accommodate you, everyone’s way more interested in helping new users learn how to use VATSIM (and not chastise you)
