Remove my position in VFR map?

I would like to learn flying using only NDB and VOR positions without the GPS technology. Each time I open the VFR map my position is revealed. Is there any way to remove it?
I want to create the intrigue of navigating without GPS.
Maybe is there any addon that only shows the radio landmarks signals without revealing my gps position?

Little Nav Map is the badger you’re after

… or Sky4Sim.

How about not opening an in-game map, but instead go to the local airport an pick up a sectional chart?

Try to navigate using the instruments and locate position. Start in your locat area with geographic and man-made thing you know.

Assuming you have to disconnect from the sim to avoid LNM showing your position as well?

No, there is a button on the top bar to show and hide any elements you want. Other planes, ships, flight plan, nav beacons, airspaces etc. Totally customisable.

But yea Sky4Sim also would work. Depends what other details and map options/features are important to you.

Ahh, excellent! I did not know that. Just less than a year ago I had decided to fly a trip with my sister: she in real life with a C172, me in MSFS in the sim 172. To simulate real VFR navigating, I drew the flight plan lines from LNM onto Google Maps and used that as my “paper maps” as I did not want to see where I was in LNM. If I knew about this setting I could have hidden the aircraft in LNM and just used that. Better than Google because of the aviation info available.

FWIW: my post at that time is HERE

Since Im using FS in VR mode, I h ave some limitations.

Little nav map has an addon for VR enviroments but you can only “view” the map and its not possible to click on each ndb to the the frequency and his information.

By other side,I bought a license for Sky4sim. Thats a perfect addon for this BUT… my position is revealed in realtime in the map.

For me the perfect solution would be the default VFR map in fs2020. I would like to mod it to not show my position. For example i would like to reduce my plane icon to 0 to hide it.

Any thoughts?

No thoughts about LNM in VR as I’ve only just started using it that way myself. I guess in a roundabout way you could get an intractable way of showing it if you have a 2nd PC you can set up a VPN and use the All In One Tablet tool to control the mouse on that 2nd PC, and run LNM full app instead.

If you open the Filter (bottom icon) you can UNTICK your own aircraft, then also don’t switch on the “auto follow” and that should do what you want?

Really can I hide my own aircraft? jajaj my bad. I going to check that again!

Thanks!

Little Navmap requires a 3rd party addon so you can access webserver from the toolbar menu. I tried it yesterday and it was terrible. Hard to read text in VR and you cannot pan the map with your mouse.

That’s why I mentioned Sky4Sim before. I use it for all VFR flights and I also fly in VR. It uses Bing maps with overlaid navdata from MSFS like VOR, NDB and airports.

Another alternative is Navigraph toolbar app but it requires a monthly subscription.

Both apps have ability to turn off tracking and the icon of your plane.

Sorry but that is wrong info. Not sure how and what you are using but you most certainly can pan with mouse and zoom with the mouse wheel. Text size (and UI size / icon sizes / line thicknesses etc) can all be changed in the settings.

I tried it both with the stand-alone VR plugin on .to and via the All In One tablet (from FlightSimulator.me). What you can’t do is click nodes and so on to see Airport and Nav info I think but I’ve never actually tried in anger.

In that All In One you can even change the quality and text sizes directly with buttons on the virtual tablet screen.

Setting up the web server is literally just a tick box and pointing the path correctly for both methods. I think you’re doing something wrong mate

I was talking about this toolbar addon GitHub - bymaximus/msfs2020-toolbar-little-nav-map: Microsoft FlightSimulator 2020 Toolbar LittleNavMap window. I didn’t know ALL IN ONE tablet supports Little Navmap.

I was using this one before buying the All in one thingy.
