Remove unwanted AI traffic models/liveries

I have a mix of airliners, GA, and military aircraft installed on MSFS. One thing I love is when I see 3rd party aircraft appear at the gates and parking spaces. I wish all 3rd party aircraft would show in sim as gate traffic. (Then the 737 max would be worth the money to at least see the beautiful external model sitting at gates) Getting to my point.. what I strongly dislike is when I see 3rd party GA or military aircraft parked at the gate. So I uninstall them leaving only my airliners installed for the few that do appear. I WISH I could select which of my default and 3rd party aircraft I would like to see as gate traffic, and the aircraft not selected would no longer show. Thinking it could be an autonomous process in which the sim reads the official and community folder and then presents the user with a list of all aircraft in which they could select the desired aircraft they would like to see at the gate. And while I’m typing this also what comes to mind is the ability to select a few default or third party planes to be the ai air traffic models until ai model and livery matching come to the sim one day.

I’m not sure if this is actually working or not. But in the aircraft.cfg file for each aircraft that you have installed. There’s a parameter on the Parking type (I don’t remember the actual parameter name). Where you can select Gate, Ramp, Cargo, etc.

I think by only selecting Ramp on the GA aircraft will force them to only spawn on GA Ramp parking spaces and not the Gates. Similarly, for Military aircraft, you can set the parking type as Military or Military Cargo, and that should also avoid them being spawned at civilian gates and parking and have them spawned on parking spots that are flagged as military.

So if you have airliners to set as Gate,Ramp.. That should only spawn them in Gates and Ramp types and not on Cargo. Similarly, if you have Freight Liveries, if you only flag them to spawn in Cargo types that would do the same too.

That being said, if we assume the function is working, it still needs the Airport designs to actually set the correct parking types for each parking spots, otherwise, it still won’t work and the aircraft will be randomly spawned in different parking spaces.

I’ve seen what you’re referring to in the .cfg of different aircraft. Ill definitely give that a shot! Thank you for all your input.

I think the intention is at some future date for those settings and the airports and the game to all work together to spawn the correct traffic in the correct location. But it’s not working that way yet.

I made a similar post to this. ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  goshawks all over the place at civilian airports and liveries showing which I disabled in the .cfg file. Its very irritating. No one could tell me how to fix/workaround.

Hey all, just came across this thread. I posted a similar complaint. Something is definitely not right. I’m also seeing T45C’s at airports even though the flag to use as ai traffic is set to 0 in the cfg file. I’d think that should override the global Traffic setting, but clearly not. Any fixes would be appreciated.

As an aside, REAL ai traffic would be great at airports, but also I’d like it if Asobo had some way of specifying for a given airport what liveries are allowed.

Cheers everyone,

Like many others I love to fly vintage or kit built aircraft in the sim like for example the DC-6 or the Spitfire, to name two. The immersion flying a WW2 warbird in VR is incredible. However there is a big drawback: Coming to land at an airport the apron is cramped with (in my case) DC-6, Spitfires, Cri-Cri’s, P.149s. Aircraft that you will hardly see ONCE in the sky or at an airport are used as parked airplanes at absurd numbers.

A setting (like a checkbox in the aircraft customization menu) would be great to select which of your addons will be used.

As a note: I found another thread with the advice to set isAirTraffic = 0 but this is NOT the setting that prevents the aircraft from showing up, it will just not fly around.

I was thinking about the same issue lately.

I find it somewhat strange to see Fighter jets parked at international airport gates … or on grass ramp locations of tiny regional airfield.

Either a ā€œpreferenceā€ or a little bit or reasonable if-then-else logic would be lovely.

That’s a good thought too. Jet aircraft are recognized as such by the sim, they should generally not be parked at gras strips or tiny airfields. If someone flies a PC24 or Citation into these strips, fine, but AI shouldn’t (fly or) park them there. A vintage prop plane (like a Spit) has nothing to do at a commercial airport (by the AI) etc but could be found at known places like Duxford. Although I think this effort exceeds the current willingness of Asobo by far

yes…seeing a 330 ā€˜parked with tail over hanging the runway’ at St Barts is a bit much!

I wish each aircraft could have a toggle, in sim, to have it available for use in AI or static aircraft generation.

I know I can edit this manually in the aircraft.cfg, but it would be nice to have this accessible in the sim itself, so users could simply select a checkbox - available for AI.

If I’m flying a Spitfire for example, I don’t necessarily want to see spitfires, or stearmans in different airports. My aircraft is fairly unique in this example.

There’s an Aerosoft mod that applies the real liveries to commercial aircraft if you’re running live traffic. It’s called Aerosoft Tool Simple Traffic. I’ve been using it for around a month. It’s pretty cool. I’ve been all over the world with it sitting at airports watching the traffic as well as flying next to planes in the F35/fighters to see if the the livs are right. I’ve yet to find one that didn’t match.

Yes which is pretty awesome, I’m yet to try it as I mostly fly GA stuff on the sim, until Fenix releases their A320 that is…

But the random GA aircraft that the sim picks to populate the smaller airstrips around the sim often have some very interesting choices. Where you’d mostly expect Cessnas, Pipers or some of the other newer manufacturers, you’ll have spitfires, stearmans, or whatever else you may have in your library.

It would be really nice to be able to simply check these exotic aircraft ā€˜off’ for AI use in the sim.

Please give us the option to restrict models from becoming traffic without having to modify the aircraft.cfg.

Do you know what happens when the AS CRJ, FBW 320 and PMDG 737 loads as Traffic in a busy airport?
*GPU goes BRRRRRRRRRRRR

I’m happy with low poly traffic from AIG.

contact the developer of the 3rd party airplanes to disable it by default, seems the easier way.
For MSFS an AI airplane is more or less identical to a user airplane the only difference is the setting in the aircraft.cfg file and that can only be changed by the developer.

Also you could use:
OPTIONS>General Options>Traffic> Use Generic Plane Models (Multiplayer) to: ON

( as well as ai aircraft, if desired )

This is the change that they’re asking for. They want the ability to make that change on their own without having to contact the developer. If the developer does it, it propagates for everybody. But some people may want it as AI traffic and others may not.
Furthermore, if the user does it and edits the aircraft.cfg file, then any future updates to that aircraft could overwrite it. If implemented properly, an option in the settings to disable this should allow this setting to persist across installations.
I, for one, support this request wholeheartedly.

I think that they’re looking for an Ć  la carte option, where you can restrict some models and not others inside the sim without having to edit the isAirTraffic line in aircraft.cfg. I think it’s a great idea.

Exactly! Couldn’t been explained better! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hi again,
Quick question: You want this with more than just AI traffic, right? I turn on real-time traffic and I still see BlƩriots parked at lots of airports.
