Trying to download the 1.22.2.0 update for 3 hours now and once I get to the fs-base-01.1.211.fspatch part, I get into this LOOP of the files. It just downloads it then downloads it again and again., For 3 hours now, I cannot get it to finish the update. Once it hits 100% on the 0.1.211, it justs starts over again.
No O/Cing,
Community Folder Empty.
Hard reboot.
Nothing running in the background.
All Drivers up to date.
HELP!
Only time you get a loop with updates is if you have messed with the default files and not restored them back to original before you updated!
I’m not sure how I would have messed with files as the updates have worked before. Could this be from a mod?
This can happen even without you having done anything to cause it. It only ever happened once to me so its fairly rare.

It worked for me when I had this issue about 3 updates ago. YMMV
I am in the main directory and cannot locate the files. Can you please be more precise on the location?
My bad! They were in the ONE STORE directory. Trying to update again. Stand by.
Edit: See you found it.
I deleted the 3 files in there and tried to update again. It downloaded the same files the DELETED THEM on its own and keeps re-downloading them in a constant loop.
ahh sorry. Thats what worked for me, so not sure what else to suggest unfortunately.
FIXED: I had forgotten to disable AVG Anti-Virua. It took it upon itself to just start deleting files on its own. This is not the first time I’ve had issues with this load of ■■■■ AV. Getting rid of it. As soon as I shut it off, it downloaded. Thanks for the help.

Glad you got it sorted. And FWIW i don’t use any AV with W10. It’s not needed.
This is not the first time I’ve run into issues with AVG and MSFS. I’m surprised that I forgot to turn it off.
Not just AVG, I was running Avast and when I temporarily disabled it, whala, update ran just fine.
Since when does MS or Asobo try to install files that anti virus has issues with? They should know better!

They are well aware of this issue but do not fix it. This has been happening since release and I personally have told them about the issue many months and updates ago.
Well, HERE WE GO AGAIN! Cannot install the update due to looping. As per the above, everything is disabled but now, it just repeats itself over and over. THIS IS WHY so many people HATE Microsoft.
I have the Steam version of MSFS and during the install of World Update VIII (1.24.5.0) my update restarted (update restarting) (update repeated) (update looped) (update looping) and the cause was AVG AntiVirus Free. I had to allow FlightSimulator access to a protected LOADING folder. After allowing access the update completed successfully.
I don’t know if your still using AVG but try disabling your antivirus.
disable is not enuf. it is not a msfs issue.
I had to go into the packages folder and delete all the updated files, kill AVG and then it updated. Just shutting down avg didn’t work this time.
I disabled Windows virus protection. I was able to download at a much faster speed AND no more loops!
Actually even with Windows virus protection off it started to loop again after a few minutes…
I don’t have other antivirus installed.
