Hi, when in external camera mode (not in cockpit), can we get rid of Angle of attack (AOA) and replace it with an artificial horizon display? At least then we’d get the turn indicator as well.
Actually don’t like reading AOA, I think it’s misleading.
I think it’s around the changing colours. I’m also watching VS and airspeed already, why have the AOA as secondary verification? I don’t think real world planes have it, I’ve never seen it in the Cockpit - correct me if I’m wrong.
Ok, the video helped and I stand corrected, but as I’m used to flying single engine smaller planes (Cessna’s / Cub etc) I had never seen it before. Not flown the A5 either.
Also from what I remember from real world flying (although it was around 10 years ago) I didn’t have it in a Cessna or Piper
Maybe the airspeed indicator and the altimeter can be replaced by an artificial horizon with airspeed and altitude attached to the artificial horizon.
The Angle of Attack indicator is a valuable instrument during takeoffs, landings, turns, climbs and descents to for stall prevention. Since stalls can happen at any speed or any attitude, the AoA indicator is the only reliable way to anticipate and prevent stalls.
sorry for the off-topic but why don’t I see the G indicator in the external HUD when flying certain planes? For example, the F-16 and FA-18 have it - so why doesn’t the Mig-29 have it? I can’t get my head around that… impossible to fly the Mig without a G indicator in external cam without breaking the plane!
I’ve tried all kinds of options. Nothing works. Is there a toggle in the cockpit for it? Because in the F-16, you have to enable speed in mach to see the mach number in external HUD.
