I think there are some very valid concerns and requests in this thread. I also think there are some very big over the top reactions too. It’s literally been 15 days since release of a game that has been worked on for years. I think everyone just needs to take a few deep breaths, keep flying 2020 if that scratches your itch, and give 2024 a few months to get it’s feet underneath it. It is after all, just a game.

Totally agree. This is one of a few reasons I’ll never purchase this version. I’m not in control of the game I purchased, MS is. You know the saying…
“You’ll own nothing and be happy”

The same can be said of 2020.
not much software in this world you actually own…all you ever buy is a license to use it, not own it.
Then they should’ve released it a few months later. We already waited months till release and the least you would expect is that it already is at the FS2020 level. Not to actually go back to FS2020.

I understand that, but in the grand scheme of things, is a few months going to make any real difference as a player or a developer? Let’s be real here. MSFS2020 is still available to play, and is in a good place as a game. As a developer, if you don’t understand that a new platform will take time to code for, then developing probably isn’t for you. Like I said above, it’s literally 15 days.

Or… we could, as a community, be mature enough to know that it’s early days, and nobody has died because MSFS2024 has some bugs?

As I said, the least it should be is to be stable like FS2020 so I don’t have to switch back to FS2020 (I’m glad I didn’t uninstall). It’s really not my problem they put so much (game)stuff in FS2024 that they can’t manage it.
I know eventually it is gonna be fine but talking about maturity they should’ve released it a the point where it would be fine.

Only because our internet isn’t the greatest, I’d personally want to be able to download the terrain onto my hard drive and update as required. I’ve been waiting to get onto a mission for about an hour now because my daughter is on a zoom call for class and all my internet bandwidth is being taken up. Not her fault, she needs it for class but now I can’t fly…

Everything that has been said here today and since this game’s launch is 100 percent correct on this thread this needs to be unlocked in order for this game to thrive because right now you guys have charged people hundreds of dollars and I will even say the people that pay their monthly subscription and get the game included on their game pass for free are still technically paying for the game that you control that we have no control over, I beg of you a sobo and Microsoft to do the right thing and stop trying to pawn off a steaming pile of cow dung which is what this release was unfortunately it was unfinished incomplete not ready for anything and you went from one alpha test to less than a month later to releasing it is ridiculous borderline fraudulent with the amount of money that was spent by people for this game including myself not to mention the countless hours that I and other people have involved with this game slash simulator you call it but right now it’s not a simulator it’s a game it doesn’t live up to its predecessors I’ve been playing flight simulator since it was a bunch of white lines on a tandy monitor and a very grainy cockpit view I’ve seen this thing evolve but I think one of the biggest gripes I personally have is give me the option as APC player to download instead of stream I get it if you have an Xbox you can’t handle it cool that didn’t stop you all from doing that on Microsoft 2020 Microsoft 2020 was I think a total of 342n GIGABYTES give or take people still downloaded it and played it on there but my PC can obviously handle that and much more as I’m sure others can give us the option stop trying to corral us in this sandbox of a disaster you call a flight sim and open it up to where we can do as a community what we’re meant to do and what the game is supposed to become the next great step because right now it’s the next great disaster

Full agree! And please give us the possibility to Download Planes and full Menu! Only Stream the World-Data with intensive use of the Rolling Cache!
Maybe future generations of console will have more realistic specs. for todays software, that won’t require such drastic steps to make them viable. The aim to reduce the footprint has worked, but at what cost?
The specs for consoles IMO are just fine, for fantasy based games where the world is made up, and can be massaged to fit the hardware. I think MSFS is an outlier in the fact that it’s based on as accurate a depiction of the earth down to centimeters, while including accurate weather, and highly coded addons. You don’t find that demand on hardware in any other game. In Call of Duty, if a building is too demanding on the XBox, the dev can just dumb it down, and nobody notices or cares. In flight sim, you can’t just dumb down an airport, because it’s immediately noticable by the user.

I think you are correct…once market place goes live we’re supposed to be able to have a local copy of aircraft and airports on our NVMe/SSD/HDD.
So from the dev stream, aircraft will eventually be downloadable. They dont want people cheating in career mode.
They also mentioned that aircraft developers want their aircraft unencrypted.
Seems like it is something that the team knows they need to do but it didnt sound like it had much priority.
Probably coming out once markeplace is availible sometime Q1 (speculated at April 2025)

the fact that “career mode” some ■■■■■■ game mechanic is a priority over this in a sim is shameful. the whole concept of “cheating” implies this is a game, not a sim

Yeah , “career mode” SHOULD NOT impact in any way the “free flight mode”.
The solution should be easy - now with streaming promoted as the most efficient way to have more packages etc…How about having two package variants of the standard aircraft , one locked and hidden for “career” mode use only, and the other unencrypted for the free flight mode. Keep things workings as they were and as they should…keeping community mods is part of the essence… “with the community, for the community” is a promise to be kept.
