Request for the Unencryption and Full Downloadability of Default Aircraft in MSFS 2024

we’ll certainly need to be prepared to be shut down if MS makes a change in politics. I think it’s save to expect a change back to P3D and XP at some point. But I don’t think this will happen within the next 4-5 years.

Jesu, nothing is going to happen to the simulator, do you realise the disaster that MSFS2020 was? It was 10x worse than this, no one played the sim properly until Xbox release and the release of the first custom aircraft. You’re all reading into it way too much. They’ve got a plan to fix most of your issues in the next few sim updates. I also don’t think any of you realise that a lot of people still use MSFS2024 like me, it’s functional with some bugs. Also, devs are putting all effort into supporting the new sim with new and old aircraft and sceneries too. On twitch there’s more viewers tuning into 2024 streams than 2020 as well. Stop acting like it’s all failing when it’s not. It is FAR from ideal that this mess is happening but it’s not the end of the world, things will get better fast

Very fast (words from Martial) turned out to be SU2 in summer.(vr fixes)
So, when is fast ? Next year maybe.

Not sure I agree with that. I’ve been using it since August 18th 2020. It had issues, but it was usable, and in some ways performed better than it ever did after SU5 was released, for reasons that have been discussed many times over the last few years.

It certainly looks better now in many ways than it did back then, though. The biggest issue we had for quite a while were horrific CTD’s caused by multiplayer traffic. That was a dark time, but that too passed.

I still have my old FSX beta Builds! Back in 2006 we were all in agreement that it was in no fit state for release. We nicknamed FSX “The Bloated Goat”.

SU is for Q2 2025 so before summer …

is not because FSX state … is not same story

At the Developer Twitch Q&A yesterday, Martial responded about the encryption and his response seemed not to be entirely accurate. The Standard version planes were unencrypted back in December. However, the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe planes are still fully encrypted in MSFS 2024. The Deluxe and Premium Deluxe planes were not fully encrypted in MSFS 2020, they were partially unencrypted. This means that teams like Horizon Simulations, can’t mod the Working Title 787 in MSFS 2024, like they were able to mod it in MSFS 2020 (and a lot of us loved the Horizon Simulations 787 and Kuro 787 from MSFS 2020).

Here is Martial’s response in the Twitch Q&A yesterday, and he seems to have missed out on the fact that Deluxe and Premium Deluxe planes in MSFS 2024 are still fully encrypted:

I hope a Community Manager can pick up this information and pass it to Jorg/Seb/Martial, and let them know that Deluxe and Premium Deluxe planes in MSFS 2024 are still not partially unencrypted, which they are in MSFS 2020.

We know that they want to protect their products, but they should know that we (and random freeware developers) want to be able to customize airplanes that we paid for

That’s the core point of the community, that’s why we have Kuro, or in the standard the A320 FBW

looks like MS is doing high efforts to prevent community patches in future.

I’m not convinced that’s the reason. I think this was more an oversight to an overzealous desire to protect both planes they made, and were made by their development partners. 2020 showed there were ways to do that, and still allow modders to improve them.

I hope that it will be possible to download default aircraft soon that they don’t have to be streamed. Wasn’t it meant to come out before christmas last year?

Yeah me too…

With as buggy as this platform has been from launch and since they are basically using their customer base as a working beta test in the process, they really should unencrypt all their aircraft so that experienced modders can potentially come out with fixes themselves or mods that fix the inaccuracies many users have noted in so many posts on here instead of having to wait months and months for developers to possibly fix them. What makes the flight sim community what it is isn’t just the payware developers, it’s largely all the modders and freeware creators out there too. Taking down the wall on these aircraft so that we can modify them as we see fit and/or assist MS/Asobo and other devs might actually speed up potential fixes and lessen headaches.

It’s rather ridiculous to me that some of these aircraft in this sim fly so inaccurately and have since launch that they still haven’t fixed them or added missing features that were promised to us. SU1 fixed a number of core issues and some 1000+ bugs, but still didn’t address things like reported aircraft performance discrepancies and other complaints. Which really, as many have also said can potentially be fixed if files were unencrypted.

I have spent thousands of $ in the online marketplace - I additionally demand that all extra content purchased is made available for download by personal choice! I do not want high detail addons to be streamed at expense of my bandwidth and connectivity for every flight to a payware airport or using a payware 3rd party aircraft.

The only reason for purchasing on marketplace was to have all addons available in one location.

absolutely agree here. It’s not even my bandwidth being used, it’s not that much. But still every time I want to fly a streamed airplane I experience moments when the cockpit blurries and then reloads it visuals. It’s super annoying and basically prevents me from using default aircraft. I do not have any problems anymore with loading scenery but the streamed airplanes remain a major issue. downloading and modding them them locally would make them super versatile and would increase the sim’s value massively for everyone, even for those who want to stream, since a lot of MS’ bandwidth would be freed.

Servus Kamerad. Yes exactly. They are punishing their best customers that purchase directly in the inSim Marketplace. (I have purchased well over 200 Addons via Steam). Although I do understand encryption for copy protection, I am just asking to have at least the same rights and capabilities as in MSFS2020.

I will also check later today if the Inibuilds A350 2024 version that I purchased last week in the 2020 Marketplace is now actually available for installation in 2024…

Is this why most liveries dont work for planes like the ATR?

It was pointed out to me today that apparently, the base sim aircraft were unencrypted back in December, but I was unaware of this as it doesn’t seem like there was much public notification of this fact happening. Upon looking through the files today in dev mode. Some of the aircraft files are viewable and editable, but full “unencryption” it definitely doesn’t seem like it. Only parts of things are available to look at on certain aircraft. And it is far from easy to access. Unlike other version of the sim where you could literally fast click to a few different folders and bam, you’re in. In this sim, it’s entirely clunky and hard to get to in comparison. You have to enable Dev Mode in your sim, run a powershell execution, then open a secondary drive preview that allows you to look at the streamed aircraft and what looks like only some of the data MS/Asobo allow us to see. So are aircraft unencrypted? Yes, but it doesn’t look like all the usefull data is there. You also need specific files, plugins, etc to look at or edit textures, have the SDK setup and other things. So it’s definitely not near as user friendly to deal with and doing quick repaints, doesn’t seem possible at this point based on this either.
