Request to postpone the official release of SU10

I agree with you that it would be much better to have 2 separate teams working on each platform. But this isn’t the case, obviously, so we have to deal with it. I’m confident they doing the best they can. I think the devs are having headaches too. How do we satisfy both audiences…

of course… this is the point. It lacks this discernment to stop apologizing and take the blame… It’s been two years of such discontent that I reserve myself to observe many discussions. But there comes a time when it is inhumane to remain silent.

I mean we’ve been with SU10 beta for 2 months. Don’t get me wrong it’s been up and down the whole time, but i did an 8 hour flight the other day and i had no frame drops or anything it was smooth the entire way. I don’t have a super high end system but it’s no potato either. Other things to note: I’m only running in 1080p, i’ve got a handful of tools running that offer minimal impact (vpilot, volanta, one or two misc plugins etc), I am running Photogrammetry and i still get stutters every so often. It’s not spilled milk or anything but these are a little less annoying than hitting a wall of weather and getting tossed around like a shoe in a dryer.

Performance wise, i think should look at overall playability over strict metrics. If you spend all your time chasing frames, you’re probably never going to enjoy the game. 40 fps is 100% playable. 30fps is also acceptable. Crying about 15fps in a 4K custom city with full traffic, HD textures while flying a PMDG plane…i mean i don’t have any sympathy, that’s your fault for trying to race your ford fiesta against an F1 car. If you have the F1 car, you’re trying to race the space shuttle

That all said, the release date was probably set by MS and i’m sure Jorg and all them had to fight like heck to get it to that date. I too think we should spend another month tops in beta before SU10 is dropped, but i’m not gonna vote on it since we likely won’t see much difference in an extra month of beta. As someone mentioned it, Asobo is likely understaffed, they know they’re understaffed yet they’re still gonna release something thats likely going to receive the usual “1 step forward two steps back” criticism anyway.

It’s not about chasing frames or how high the frame count is. It’s about getting good, consistent frame rates without stutters and pauses. I couldn’t care less about what my max frame rate is as long as frame rates are smooth, consistent, and don’t drop into the choppy sub-30 fps range when in busy areas.

And that what the first SU10 beta made happen. Graphical glitches and other issues aside, it was by far the smoothest, most consistent MSFS experience we’ve had in the past 2 years since launch.

oh i agree with you and that’s what i was getting at with “overall playability.” I think we’d see a lot less threads on the forums about performance if things were more consistent.

me personally, the game is consistent enough i can play it regularly now. For others this is not the case. Of that group, there is definitely a loud group of people who say “anything less than 240fps at 8K is unplayable” and those are the folks i’m mostly talking about when i speak about frame chasers.

Yeah, there are the ones that insist it has to be 60 fps at a minimum or its unplayable. I don’t share that opinion. And I also don’t share the opinion that 30 fps is all we need either. To me, 30 is the minimum under which the sim should never drop to maintain a smooth experience.

SU10 beta 1 was a 45-55 fps experience with dips in the mid 30s in busy areas. And to me, that was amazing. If I could get a max of 45 and min of 30 at all times, regardless where I was and what was going on around me, you’d never hear me talk about performance again.

as long as the stutters are gone, the 0.1% and 1% frames are at least 30 i’m more than happy.
offcourse 60 would ideal, but i rather have a smooth experience than 120fps or whatever that’s a stutterfest.

we’ll see where this takes us, but so far SU10 beta is not performing better than SU9 for me.
I have a 10700k and 3080Ti with 32GB ram @ 4000mhz CL18 a relatively high-end build.
brute forcing performance by getting a 5800X3D with great cache is not the solution either.
sim should run fine on all decent rigs.
i have to reduce TLOD to 100 now and i still get the occasional stutters.
it ran all fine with TLOD200 before.

Every SU feels like a degredation to me personally, some might disagree some might agree i am not here to argue.
But like the rest of you, I just want to see this sim reach it’s full potential.
Graphically, performance-wise, and it’s features.

Xbox X too. Agreed. SU10 B2 was probably the best the Xbox has performed for a long time. B3 is still good but not as good as B2. B1 for the Xbox was brutally bad.

Well this is why the one shoe fits all approach taken since SU5 will never work. One platform suffers while the other benefits. Seperate updates for each platform. Whether they make the effort or invest in this will tell how far the sim will go.

I want the stability to have 30FPS for me is perfect except when you have lag on landing or even takeoff I do not accept the Beta SU10-1 it was perfect no micro lag and now I have micro lag. RTX 3080 Ryzen 3600x 32Ram Nvme Setting Higt Tlod 100 1440p

30 is good if you’re flying airliners and looking ahead most of the time. For folks flying low and slow with head tracking (Tobii or TrackIR), 30 is too low. 35 is where head movement starts to smooth out, and 40-45 is where it gets amazing. Anything above that is gravy.

As I posted elsewhere a few minutes ago, if I could get the levels of performance we saw in the first beta 10 - 45+ fps in flight / cruise and lows in the mid 30s on the ground in busy areas - you’d never hear me bring up sim performance again. That’s what I was getting with the first beta. And it was glorious. What a kick in the gut the followup updates were.

Perhaps Asobo should release SU10 for those who want it/see benefits but leave SU9 available also for those who view SU10 to be unstable/not worth it. AMD does this with their Adrenalin GPU drivers in making available both a stable release and another release with more recent enhancements/fixes but not quite as stable.

This way, everyone has a choice on how they want to move forward.

The G-sync topic is an issue on Windows 11 only. On Windows 10 you could leave V-sync off and just G-sync on and G-sync will work fine. With Windows 11 both must be activated for G-sync to work properly, at least as of today, as without that the max fps won´t be locked to the set refresh of the monitor and G-sync will be choppy and laggy, even if it still works and adapts to the current fps figures. As I wrote in another post there may be an issue with the window manager inside Windows 11.

Anyway Windows 11 should bring a feature in the next updates later this year that will handle windowed modes (like MSFS that runs windowed full screen) also as true full screen modes. True full screen mode always worked better as it allowed games to draw on the screen directly, instead of having to do it via de windows manager.

Windowed full screen in MSFS is not the best option in terms of perfomance but it also allows things like undocking instruments and so on while still keeping the main rendering visible. I guess that´s why they took the ancient FSX approach even now for MSFS.

Cheers

I really dont understand these numbers. My general setting is HIGH, with clouds ULTRA and TLOD is at 180 with the PMDG 737, on a 3070 I510600K with 32GB. FPS are always above 40, and only in photogrammetry cities or fps heavy airports between 25-30 fps. Hardly any significant stutters that are concerning (there might be an occasional microstutter).

For me this is absolutely fine.

I play on both, the Xbox version is marketed as a game, pc users expect a sim which is in the title, both will never get what they want.
Somehow the 2 need to be separated, I almost exclusively use the pc version now because it’s clear the Xbox version will never be a real sim, and that’s fine as long as pc users get a sim as advertised.
Hate to say it, but Xbox is holding this sim back and for pc users that spent a bunch of money for addons, this is unacceptable.
I bought my series X specifically for MSFS 2020, and I feel ripped off on both Xbox and PC.

Some people, myself included have been saying that since long before it was ever even released on Xbox. Not only has it been falling on deaf ears, I think it’s likely getting to the point that even saying so out loud will get your post removed and account suspended.

As for performance, I’m not qualified to speak to that as I upgraded to a 3080 at just about the same time I decided to join the beta, so I don’t know if I should be thrilled or disappointed. I know with certain 3rd party airport addons and certain 3rd party aircraft that just may be used by airlines, even with that monster card and a CPU (i5-10600k) that isn’t a slouch, I’m in the low to mid 20s, and I certainly would expect better than that.

But… That is 3rd party stuff that hasn’t been updated or optimized for SU10 so, who knows?

I was flying one of the Pitts bi-plane yesterday through NYC and getting great frame rates (40+) even when building canyon diving. Although, on DX12 in the same configuration, it was jittery as hell. At first, I thought it might be the plane itself, because I have all of about 7 minutes total time in it since the sim came out (I bought it on Day Zero), but when I changed back to DX11, the jitter was gone.

So, there’s that.

But again, I also spend a couple of hundreds on planes, sceneries, airports and liveries. And I’m not even mentioning 3rd party hardware… And I play on Xbox. Why is Xbox holding the Sim back, and in what way is this unfair to pc users??

Is money spend by Xbox users different from those who spend money on PC

We the undersigned wish that Xbox users wait but we want the performance of a build that was played with giant artifacts reguardless of that being a realistic possibility of not.

Wait-so Xbox users performance is smooth, while as on PC, it was how Xbox used to be-correct?
