I’ve noticed that nearly every 3 seconds, my sim will pause/freeze for like .5 sec. Like a microstutter that happens as regular intervals. I see that my GPU is peaking near 98% then falls to low 40% utilization. In-game frames go from locked 30 down to 10 during the freeze then back up again. Lots of potential variables here but wondering if anyone is seeing something similar with repeatable, timed stuttering.
Yes, I have that too.
For me it happens only when I loaded into busy airport.
Probably due to downloading autogen and texture from the server.
Not seeing it at predictable times my major stutters happen every so often at random but the same symptoms, GPU usage drops from 100 to 30-40 severe stutters as the frame rate drops to 10. Moments later back to 40 fps and smooth.
Did not have this problem in the Alpha/Beta so I don’t think it’s a hardware issue. Really interferes with the enjoyment of this sim. Hope they can fix it.
They will be able to fix it, if they have been notified about it here…
OK I submitted a bug report, this seems to be a widespread problem so I guess just keep beating on them till they figure it out.
Seems a variation of other similar stutter posts. Didn’t have this in Alpha/Beta either but we also have new graphics options that weren’t Accessible to us. For instance, I found that just enabling VSYNC with frames locked at 30 creates very jerky graphics. As before, locking frames in nVidia settings does not exhibit the same behavior.
Doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason, just flew a night flight that should have been an easy render, over generic terrain just before entering downwind the fps dropped to 1 then 3 then 8 and finally back to 35 with the occasional drop to 22. Will go back into graphics panel and try forcing 30. I did notice that with VSync off I could not adjust the max fps, had to turn it on, change it and turn it off.
Also have you noticed that changes to the NVidia panel don’t have any effect till the sim is restarted?
So I went back and granted some trust rights to the simulator in my anti-virus software. I also started it as administrator and back in the TBM, testing with mostly Ultra settings in the Phoenix metro area and getting solid 30 locked frames. Very smooth.
I then started xMapsy, which uses SimConnect, and frames tanked for about 10 sec. just when I was about to turn of xMapsy, frames recovered to 30.
So like others are posting, I believe it is SimConnect related. As soon as I turned xMapsy back on, I started getting the stutter. Turning it of resolved. I noticed a setting in the xMapsy app which sends traffic every 4 sec. I bet that’s the source of the momentary freeze.
