Reverb G2 and RT5700XT

Hi, I’ve done searches here and on Google but am looking for more current information and feedback.

Is the Reverb G2 and Rx5700xt an acceptable combination for MSFS2020? I just built my system so I really can’t get a better GPU for now and know my card is a lower mid level card.

Is it acceptable for your enjoyment? Have most of the kinks been worked out by know?

Thanks for your input. I know some of your feedback is subjective and will understand if I buy it and our assessments don’t match.

is it fair to say Hp reverb has the best visual for msfs2020??? i have Osculus Q 2 and i hate how blurry the screen looks outside the bird… inside the airplane is ok but outside is horrible…what do you pilots think???

Very basic questions about VR before I press the pay button on a Reverb G2

Am I right in assuming that a joystick is used as normal with VR? Do I need to use the supplied controllers at all when using the VR headset with FS 2020? I normally use a split-screen when playing FS so that I can switch between the game and windows. Is that still possible with VR or do I need to go to fullscreen mode?

Hi, yeah it’s hard to find recent posts specific to the Radeon RT5700XT GPU card I have. I’ve seen that HP specs has my card listed and haven’t seen any specific problems with the card, so I guess I’ll go for it.

Okay, I’m going to do a quick summary, because personally, when I’m looking for information, I do a lot of reading.
So, to summarize your RT 5700 XT will run the Reverb G2, with some settings revised downwards compared to a more powerful GPU.
BUT the problem here is the countless CTD crashes you might have with MSFS. Still among everything I have read, these CTD crashes can affect AMD 5000 and 6000 series GPUs.
If you’re lucky you don’t have CTD crashes it will be stuttering when looking down, but again if you’re lucky you won’t.
You can also have screens that turn black, with flashes.
Always the same, if you’re lucky …

To summarize, the HP Reberv G2 and MSFS is a lottery.
It can also depend on whether your PC is running on AMD or Intel.

Hi all, This is my first post on the VR forum. I used to be involved in VR when the first Oculus rift was crowd funded then lost interests until MSFS 2020. I recently bought an HP Reverb G2 and noticed a few crashes that make the G2 not really usable. Reverb G2 Sweet Spot Discovery

Like many, I was initially very disappointed with the sweet spot on the HP Reverb G2. It was as though there were 2-3 degrees in the very center that were sharp then a massive clarity falloff when not looking at that central spot. My video card was the RTX 2080Ti. I can tell you also that I and many other RT5700XT owners (other AMD models) can not use any drivers newer than the early Nov ‘20 driver because of ctd’s. Supposedly this is only an issue with MSFS2020 but I have no other games so I have no way of confirming this.

With my RX 6800 XT, with the November drivers, the mixed reality portal does not recognize the G2

I switched from an Oculus Rift CV1 with a GTX 1080 TI, with which, I never had any problems with MSFS
Then I bought an RX 6800 XT, still with the CV1, 0 problems.
Since I have the G2, I collect CTDs.
Luckily, I am not affected by the bathing while looking at the ground, nor by the screens which turn black.

The “Small” of all the solutions to try to solve these problems of CTD. I said “try”

When it works, personally, I find the image to be very beautiful, but it’s still VR, even if there is a gap compared to a 2016 CV, but it’s not a revolution.
