Reverb G2 - Max Clarity for High-end Systems

Yes, I would assume the same. With 150% OXR, either the in-sim render scale had to be lower or the FSR, but the OP talked about these values:

To be honest, I doubt that one can achieve 35-40 fps with these settings. That’s why I asked for feedback from others using such values.

I’m sort of guilty with the tweaking and finding my own settings. I run a bare bones machine and those settings obviously aren’t using motion reproduction but someone will always ask. I run OXR 200 and the RS at 55 on my 3080 OC. I have a mild OC on a 12700k CPU and use a Gen 4 NVME drive. I get mid 40’s but all the animation stuff is turned down. And I don’t have stutters. Also, I dumped the rolling cache for a manual 15 GB. I’m pretty happy with the sim since SU5 and that horrible micro stuttering got fixed. I hope the future use of computer resources in VR continues to improve and there is less disparity between 2D and 3D. Cheers

What do you mean by ‘all the animation stuff is turned down’?

Clouds, trees, waves, cockpit glass, cars, etc.

I am currently running my sim locked at 32fps and the GPU utilization averages 82-85%. That 15-18% translates to about 5-8 fps if I let the GPU run at 100%. This would not have been possible without FSR, but now a reality. I used to run OXR100/RS(in-sim)90 prior to the release of OXR Tool Kit.

Which airport are you taking off from? In a busy airport, initial fps should be around 30fps. Once you get out of a heavy photogrammetry area, 3080 with the above settings should match what I am getting. Are you running FSR using OXR Tool Kit? The only thing I could think of is VRAM amount. MSFS in VR eats VRAM like no other application. Have you tried to off load some VRAM on your 3080 by modding your cliff house in WMR home?

I decided to pass on the new Toolkit. I’ll look at what happens after SU8 and go from there. I haven’t messed with the GPU and don’t run any apps for it. Not overclocked either. I use a minimum is better approach to performance tuning.

Thank you very much for this answer and the hints in there. I am using the Open XR Toolkit with FSR. My settings are OXR 100, FSR 80 and in-sim RS 100. With this setting I get 33 fps in bad weather at RWY 23 in EDDH (Hamburg) including photogrammetry, live traffic and animations like clouds, trees, cars and so on. I don’t wanna miss these. After gaining higher altitudes after take-off my frames raise to 40+ fps.
But maybe your highly overclocked GPU does help a lot gaining such results as you described.

hier  video through the lens with the fbw a320 comin soon  runs also smooth with 30 fps!

I just did a quick flight using your settings.

Flight condition: TBM930 @EDDH, 12:00PM, Clear Sky Heading 340 with 2000fpm climb
I used clear weather as this will normalize the performance.

VR Settings: OXR100/FSR80/RS100
Sitting at the runway 23: 35fps
At 1500ft: 38fps
At 6000ft: 43fps
At 15000ft: 46fps

VR Settings: OXR150/FSR75/RS100
Sitting at the runway 23: 30fps
At 1500ft: 32fps
At 6000ft: 34fps
At 1500ft: 35fps

When you lock frame rate, the frames are much more stable (with no stutter). Difference in visual fidelity between the 1st and 2nd settings is night and day.

I think your 3080 performs about the same as my 6800XT given that you used bad weather. You should be able to use my settings with about the same performance unless your VRAM is bottlenecking.

as promised now the fbw a320 through the lens:

Makes no difference if I do a clean driver install either sadly. Would you mind sharing your WMR settings to see if something in there has changed for me without me noticing? There isn’t very much to tinker with in there though so I can’t see that being the issue but I’m clutching at straws.

Thanks

Detail and quality effect of the MR home - let window decide
App resolution - 720P
Experience Option - Best Visual Quality
Display Resolution - 4320x2160
Frame Rate - 90Hz.

I doubt this has anything to do with the problem. Seems like something is locking your driver down to 30fps. Have you also unchecked keep previous settings box?

Yes, settings were always cleared on driver installs and those are the same settings I use for my WMR so it’s a complete mystery.

I just can’t understand why it can lock at 30 in pancake and as soon as VR is activated it jumps up. The strange thing is that it seems to limit itself to 60fps in VR when there is gpu capacity to go a bit further.

The wonders of dealing with MSFS…

@Beulah6126 Similar setup using nVidia 3090. Changed OXR render from 100% to 150% and FSR 90%, Sharpen 85% - smooth and clear and better than OXR at 100%. FPS increased from 29 - 31 to 34 - 36. Thanks for the tip.
BTW just updated to latest nVidia driver 511.79 and left all settings at default. In WMR all settings “Let windows decide” and not using Motion Reprojection but will test impact do MR shortly.

That’s a pretty significant boost. Do you have your in game RS at 100? Pretty crazy how much you can push using the OXR Tool Kit. Thanks to @mbucchia and @CptLucky8 for releasing this tool.

There was also a new OXR Runtime and OXR Developers Tools released today. Still testing if there is any improvement.

Affirmative, using RS in MSFS at 100%. Agree, we are fortunate to have such talented people on the team. Thanks for the tip on other updates. And thanks again for providing the settings: it saved me a lot of time tweaking settings for optimal performance.

Thanks for your tests with my settings.

I also have a test series running right now.

All with Asobo 320 on runway 23 in Hamburg.

Initial situation: G-Sync off, Cache off, VR settings lowest possible, OXR 70, RS 70, FSR 80, offline, Traffic settings off, MR off, Community folder empty, Developer Mode on → 72 fps → OXR 150, RS 100, FSR 75 → 50 fps → online, VR settings high, Devl Mode off → 35 fps → Traffic on → 31 fps → Community folder filled → 18 fps - Upps!

Now I am trying to find out which Add-Ons kill my frames. Under suspicion: Hamburg-Helipads and/or ‘A-puf-We-love-VFR’.

Will report back

That’s good. And the choice FPS target for a given headset would be 1:2 or 1:3. With the G2 I’m using that would be 45 or 30. That why I tune for 45 to get smooth visuals with the hardware/software we’re currently using. I’d still like to have a brightness and contrast slider.

I’m still very happy with the settings. the last few days were the most beautiful i have experienced with fs2020 in vr

OXR: 150%
In-SIM RS: 100%
FSR: 70%
Sharpen: 20%

These settings works good but only on clear weather for me. Once’s I fly into bad weather I experience shutters. (5600x . 3080)
