Had the same problem. Did the following with my thrustmaster.
When you lift the throttle over the bar and back, this actually enables a “button press”. So bind this to “decrease throttle” (or something like that) in the sim.
I don’t (yet) have the CRJ, but this works for all the planes that have a reverse thrust option.
