Reverse Thrust With No Detent?

I am currently using a homemade throttle quadrant purchased on one of the bargain sites. It actually works well, but there is no detent or other means of reversing thrust. How would you recommend programming a keyboard key or a joystick button to toggle reverse thrust? I have looked through the bindings but can’t seem to find one that works. Any advice is appreciated!

When I had one of those I used the “hold reverse” binding. That way you get the full range for normal thrust and for reverse

I’m using a double binding on one button:

  • “DECREASE THROTTLE” when button is pressed
  • “THROTTLE CUT” when button is released
Maintain button pressed as long as needed (thrust effect is not immediate).
When button is released, throttle comes back to zero.
You can also bind these functions on two buttons if prefered, or using keyboard keys.

That works also perfect for me. Especially as I assigned the “thumb” button of my jet fighter style throttle with that function. It was quite intuitive from the first landing on.
Unfortunately it wasn’t working anymore with the FBW A320 after an update, but on I don’t fly that very often, so I don’t care…

I have mine set up two ways

1 DECREASE THROTTLE is mapped to a rocker button on my throttle. it works well on just about all aircraft including turboprops.

2 HOLD THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST is mapped to a continuous switch on my throttle. As long as the switch is active it will hold the reverse thrust. Then I can push my throttles forward to increase the reverse trust. (if that makes any sense) I flip the switch back to disengage the reverse thrust hold.

The second method works great on the Longitude, which is what I mostly fly.

Thanks folks…Works perfectly!
