Reversers skip to Full Power Immediately

Hello everyone, here today asking about the thrust reversers in the 787 aircraft, whether it be the Kuro or HorizonSim versions it is the only aircraft where I have observed this behaviour on.

I use a controller to fly in the sim, and when using the thrust controls which I have mapped to A & B on my controller upon landing and decreasing the thrust to reverse thrust the reversers go straight to full power based on what’s defined in the config files.

When using my mouse to move one thrust lever at a time the reversers can be set to various power levels smoothly. Whereas when using my controller or the F2 key the reversers immediately go to full power.

I’m just wondering if theres anyway, or even possible at all, to make so when I activate the reversers I can set the thrust level for them through my controller using the buttons as opposed to them immediately going to full reverse.

Hi @WillAvard and welcome to the forums :slightly_smiling_face:

So, if I understand you correctly, you want the “Hold Throttle Reverse Thrust” setting to incrementally increase when you press one of you buttons on your controller?

I don’t think that is possible using the controller functions in the game, but there may be 3rd-party apps that might be able to do this (e.g. SPAD.Next?), but I do not use these so cannot provide any guidance. Perhaps others might be able to chime in & offer advice here?

Yes that is my desire. It’s not really mandatory but it’s a QoL thing for myself.
I’ve not heard of that software. I’ll have to try it out

This is certainly possible because it’s how I do it with my controller. I did have a similar issue years ago that I think was tied to an assistance option that was turned on. Unfortunately it’s been so long that I can’t remember the exact solution. In my case it was related to hitting the button for the brakes while also trying to reduce engine power.

1 Assign buttons to

for example

Throttle 40 button C1
Throttle 50 C2
Throttle 80 C5

Activate reverse thrust and press C1, 2,3, …

Works with default Asobo 787.

The “C” is just an example; you can assign to whatever you prefer - controller button or a keyboard key.

@TenPatrol I have tried this and it ultimately doesn’t work. Even when toggling or ‘holding’ reverse thrust upon pressing the assigned button it disables the reversers and goes to that respective thrust in forward thrust.
