[REVIEW] Berlin Brandenburg (EDDB) by Aerosoft/Limesim

Here’s my review of Berlin Brandenburg by Limesim and published by Aerosoft.

As usual, there’s plenty of video content included, so you can make your own opinion if mine’s no good :stuck_out_tongue:

Hope ya’ll like it

Cheers for the review. This and FilbertFlies’ review crossed it off my list.

5.62 gigabytes

Wow, one airport with below average textures clocks in at 5.6gb? HOW?
I get that it covers a large area on the map but still, most of that is a repeated concrete texture.

It really is disappointing to see. Poor textures, no moving vehicles but the price is on the upper end of the range.

Were AI planes off for this recording? Odd that there’s no other planes parked, landing, or taxiing at a major airport.

Big airport, lots of stuff modeled beyond the airport, and the ortho is very big as well, which is required to cover all the massively outdated aerial imagery in the simulator. With an airport that has been a construction zone until a few months ago, that’s inevitable.

Even google is very outdated, not to mention Bing that must be eons old from what I could see.

Most scenery reproducing airports of this size stop at the border and leave everything nearby out. I much prefer what has been done here, with a lot of surrounding landmarks modeled including the whole highway network. The scenery isn’t just important for parking and taxiing, but also for approach and take-off.

For me, the positives far outweigh the negatives, but to each their own

Parked aircraft were off (I just hate how random they are). There are AI planes taxiing around, but it was mostly recorded at night, so you won’t see much traffic. It does get quite lively during the day.

I suspected that was making it look emptier than it would be in my usage. Thanks for the clarification!

It looks nice IMO and I’m looking forward to flying to/from it (I’ll wait until it hits the MSFS Marketplace as I’m trying to consolidate purchases in one place when I’m not in a hurry to early-adopt).

I’d give an arm to be able to “rewind” live traffic to a few hours before considering that I fly mostly at night. Considering that flightaware keeps records, it should be possible.

I’m not sure what you mean by no moving vehicles, or you mean custom vehicles?

The airport has moving vehicles. They are visible in the videos. Custom vehicles would be nice, but they’re pretty rare for now (I think I saw them only in Kristiansand by Gaya?)

Also, I wouldn’t say 20€ is the higher side of the price range. Many large international airports are closer to €25. For an airport of this scope, I would say it’s (sadly) the lower tier of price.

We can debate on whether most prices are a bit over the top nowadays, and I would agree there, but that’s what a decade in a niche has done. Hopefully they’ll lower in time.

Disappointing!
Overall poor quality with a few exceptions.
No fun landing there.
Unfortunately, I’ve already bought it.
Absolute waste of money.

Garbage for € 20.
