All planes affected except jets, radio, nav instruments go off after about 20 secs, holding right mouse button down wakes everthing up, release * all goes dark again.
making the sim unflyable for light aircraft!.

If this has just started with SU12 it’s possibly a key-binding on your mouse activating/deactivating the avionics master or similar. Check all the bindings in Controls Options/Mouse, pressing the mouse key while in that menu should bring up anything tied to that key press.
Common for updates to make weird changes in any/all of the Options menus.
