Rip Off Alert Within MarketPlace

08/22 Update: They’re refunding the original purchase which may take the usual 5 days to show up on the card that was charged. In the mean-time, I bought the Premium Deluxe and just did a test flight in the Dreamliner out of San Francisco and it was nice!

Hi all. So I’m in the Marketplace and I see the Premium Upgrade for $99 USD. It’s the most expensive of the 3 so I figure it has everything in it. It turns out, I got charged the most $ possible of the 3 options they showed but the 2nd most expensive one was the Premium Deluxe @ $84 and it has the 5 planes and airports I got plus 5 more of each. Both Premium and Premium Deluxe have gold title bars/headers so they don’t exactly stand out from each-other, either. I hadn’t heard of 4 different versions but this seems like there’s Standard, Deluxe, Premium and then Premium Deluxe. The sim has a bunch of problems but a LOT going for it so I wanted to support it but I feel pretty scammed and wanted to help others avoid the same thing.

You are totally correct. Don’t worry, contact the windows store and explain your problem calmly. They are good with support . Its obvious that they mucked the page and prices are reversed.

Also you can use the store feedback form to get in touch. Its an unorthodox method, but it works.

The Premium Deluxe version is the one that has both the Deluxe AND the Premium content, you bought the wrong pack, contact support to get a refund and purchase the correct version if you’re not too frustrated to outright refuse to touch the game now.

A lot of people here had issues understanding which of the packs gives you what, Microsoft really needs to fix that, it’s extremely confusing.

Yep, I went through reading the included items list multiple times trying to figure out what’s going on there, lol. Thankfully I’d already bought it all preorder, but I briefly thought they were selling something beyond what I already had for a time. It’s definitely confusing.

I’m not sure that it’s a mistake though. I’m under the impression that it’s supposed to be a “discount” over buying the two packs separately. It’s a bit weird how they’ve priced the other two packs, but they’ve updated the market since release, and have made no changes to the prices, despite people bringing this up since the store opened. That leads me to believe that it’s intentional.

The biggest thing that confuses people is that the “best/biggest” package is cheaper, Premium Deluxe is cheaper than regular Premium.

So price wise it’s:

Deluxe - gives you Deluxe edition content

Premium Deluxe - gives you BOTH Premium and Deluxe content

Premium - gives you Premium edition content

People naturally assume Premium, being the most expensive pack, to be the best one, but that’s wrong, the best one is Premium Deluxe, it simply has a discount/cut price for Game Pass owners to get more people to upgrade to that pack and get everything.

Sadly MS did a horrible job of explaining all that.

I’ll letcha know what happens  I called them, spoke to Jennifer for about 10 minutes & she transferred me to their billing dept. She didn’t stay on the line or explain anything to them, so I re-told things to Dave. He had me fill out a form to request a refund @ Xbox Support

I made sure he understood I was talking about an install on my PC & figured I’d put that link here in case others find themselves in a similar situation. Unless they change their support structure, you’re just going to waste time calling them so use the order history and explain things there. Now it’s a wait-n-see for up to 72 hours and I should be getting contacted by email.

hardly a rip off if a simple error is in play, would you be open to revising your post title to “Heads Up - Check the Content of your Orders”

instead of just blasting MS and the MS Store for a simple error.

Yeah same thing with me i was like half sleepy just buying the most expensive one, but then i was like, wait something is wrong. But atleast i spotted the error and now i got the Premium deluxe cheaper.

There’s a very strong chance I’ll revise the wording if they resolve my issue to reflect the outcome. The consumer is being ripped off by paying more and getting less. I didn’t launch into a profanity riddled tirade in my explanation, and “blast” them etc. It’s a very poor experience and I wanted to express that & hopefully keep others from having the same thing happen.

well, i disagree, a simple error is no means to qualify calling something a Rip-Off from the headstart.

If you have knowledge that this was an error on Microsoft’s part, that’s not information I have. I can only remark on the reality I’ve experienced. I’ll see what they end up doing and update things here accordingly.

you read the information right here in this post
