I have an rtx 2080 and normaly i would have 88-100% usage in MFS 2020 from the begining and I would have around 40 Fps at ground level and around 50-55 flying. I have not fly for some weeks but I have not changed anything on the computer other than adding a force feedback g920 for truck simulation. Today I wanted to make a flight and I will get the 80-100% workload in the menus, but as soon as the game loads I will get a gpu usage of 30-40% and around 17 FPS. Settings and everything are untouched. In the truck sim it runs at 89-99% and I have almost 100Fps, so there is nothing wrong with the GPU
I have completely removed all Nvidia related and reinstall fresh… it kinds of behaves the same way and it has something to do with the lightning… when I started It was completely dark, now when I returned, the sun started to come upp so I got better gpu usage and frames, as the light progressed on the ground the gpu ramped upp even more, I took off and as soo. as I BROKE THE CLOUDS I GOT 99-100% of cpu usage… but before I hade the same Frames and GPU usage no matter what.
Could also have somthing to do with network connections issues, but usualy its just something has happened to your vid driver and a re-install fixes it. If it happens again try re-starting modem/router and then your machine and see if that makes a difference.
And thats one of the troubles of the game is sometimes its hard to tell if its on your end or if the devs are messing with the servers at the time.
I understand that, but why should that have to do anything with the lightning now its almost full light and I went from 17 fps to now 37. but I will try restarting the net as well … thanks
You do the go to window mode, move the window around, then full screen HDR fix right. Because HDR is bugged at the moment and you have to do the above to get HDR working. If you open up options / developer mode, turn it on and turn on the little window that shows fps and main thread, you’ll see at the top it will say either SDR or HDR. If its says SDR then that would explain the lighting issue. I dont know about the GPU/CPU usage since I never checked performance monitor when it was happening. But it could be?
Just because you see 600mbps on a speed test doesnt mean your getting 600mpbs to the server. If you want to check that get a copy of pingplotter and install it. Then open the sim, start a flight, and either sit on the ground or fly on autopilot, then go into task manager/performance and click on the bottom left of the screen the Resource Monitor. Find flightsm in the list of programs, click on that so your only seeing the machines that the sim is connected to. Now write down the address in the box under ethernet (should be 5) then quit everything sim task mon resource man etc, open pingplotter, then put those address in 1 by one and watch it run, if you you see connections that have high latency or packet loss then that could be your problem as well ( dont worry about machines that dont respond at all, those are usually busy routers that are programed not to respond to you requests for security reasons).
No if you see High Latency on any of the connections, and the problems machine(S) are on your providers network, call and complain, it will take awhile because most level 1 tech’s are useless, but eventually if you persiver you might get it taken care of by them. If its off the ISP’s network theres nothing you can do about that.
OK, thanks, Il give this a try, its funny do with the sun fully upp in the sim the Gpu works at full power and the frames are good, when its dark the Gpu is nearly not running at 30-40%.
I run the Su9, I had the beta installed but uninstall it after 20minutes, I have been flying 3-4 times since with no problems, no the updates and no other modifications, but I will check the 3d settings for the hardware again as well
And the thing with the latency wouldn’t that be the same even with the sun up, I would imagine the latency would be grater when everything is visible than on night time. since the sun went up, I have 37-42 frames at a constant rate and gpu from 90-99% I have been flying for around 1h now. My latency is 19 - 22ms
The latency issue would be more of a network traffic issue, it can get better or worse at any time. I know that times when Im having latency issues to the servers the game will exhibit strange behaviors.
Thanks for all the help, I have started at other location night time now and I got ful frames, it might just have been something temporary, I can’t explain it. Could have been the starting location, it might me something with it during night time, that was CYWG, runway 30 I think .
