I am experiencing a bug and I don’t expect a fix as it is with MSFS 2020, I just want to know if someone found a workaround.
I fly in VR and I often have the map displayed in a floating window in the cockpit. If the mouse havers a floating window, the rudder pedals are inoperative because the main sim window does not have the focus. As soon as you move the mouse back in the cockpit, it works again as expected.
Several times I landed without taking care of the mouse cursor position, and then I couldn’t control the aircraft on the ground. Painful… Maybe I should add a “check rudder pedals” item in my landing checklist ![]()
If anyone found a workaround, I would be glad to know.
My mate “Lumo” says: Unfortunately, there’s no official fix from Asobo/Asus yet, and based on community threads spanning both 2020 and 2024 versions, this appears to be a fundamental Windows focus-handling limitation with VR applications. The most reliable prevention seems to be either avoiding floating windows entirely or developing muscle memory to verify cursor position before critical phases of flight.
I have not played MSFS since FS2024 release but in the old days I used Sky4Sim for maps in VR. I never experienced problems with rudder pedals or any other controllers.
This was a bug introduced in SU7 by Asobo and never fully fixed, it’s up to them to fix it.
Indeed, I think this is the only solution. I am now used to it, each time I am in final I slightly press one of the pedals to make sure it reacts.
I hope I will lose this habit before flying again IRL, otherwise the instructor may be amazed ![]()
