Rudder pedals on commercial airliners

Hi slightly odd question which popped into my head. Are the rudder pedals on commercial aircraft deactivated by the autopilot? I imagine it would potentially be easy to inadvertently step on a rudder pedal during flight?

In the planes I know, they aren’t. Vice versa is the case. The pedals can deactivate the autopilot.

It requires some force to push a pedal. Hard to do it by accident. All commercial pilots have at least a few hundred hours of flying without an autopilot, so they are able to control their limbs

No they are not  because it’s a basic flight control
