I recently bought a new system mainly for flight simulation. But I also want to keep using my old system. At time also in parallel as the new system runs.
Today I had my new system running and while it was downloading world updates, I wanted to run MSFS on my old system. But an Xbox window appeared complaining that I was logged in on another system. So swapping to the old system logged my out on the new system and MSFS stopped running.
Is there any way to have two system with MSFS running in parallel ? I do have two licenses for MSFS.
You can only run MSFS on one device per account at a time. For example, I have both a PC and Xbox Series X and have MSFS installed on both, but I can’t launch MSFS on both platforms simultaneously.
If you have two different Microsoft/Xbox accounts and each account owns a copy of MSFS (and/or subscribes to Game Pass), then you can login separately (each device using a different account) and launch the sim on both systems that way.
I managed to create a new MS account with a different email address. Now I guess I have to assign one of the boxed version’s redeem code to that new user ? Probably in the MS Store ?
I have two Microsoft/Xbox accounts and i bought only one MSFS Premium Deluxe DVD Edition in 2020. That works fine on my gaming pc and my gaming laptop both at the same time! With the main account i can use all the planes and airports of the Premium Deluxe Edition, but with the second account it is only possible to use the planes and airports of the Standard Edition…!!
Are you sure the one with the Standard Edition isn’t just using the Game Pass ? I believe that I’ve seen it’s possible to use the Standard Edition with the Game Pass.
When I try to redeem the same code that I used to install the boxed version on my old system in the MS Store I get an error saying " This code has already been redeemed". But I cannot see any way to “release” the code from my old account that the code was redeemed with.
The same by the way when trying the code from the new boxed version that I bought a few days ago. So some how the two codes must now be associated with my old account. But how to release one of them is the question now.
I don’t believe this will be possible (it would open up the option to “resell” games purchased to others unconnected to you, for example). You could try xbox support, but doubt you will get far.
2 different accounts will need two different redeem codes - your first post suggests you have only one, but later posts suggest two? I’m not sure how you can have more than one redeem code for an account - once linked to your MS account, I think it is irrevocable, and I don’t think it would let you buy or add a redeem code for the same game?
EDIT: Just noticed this:
I’m not sure how you have managed to link two redeem codes for the same game to one account.
Game codes are typically meant to be redeemed only once. When you redeem a game code on an account, it associates the ownership of that game with that specific account. This is done to prevent sharing of game licenses and to ensure that only the account holder has access to the game - so buy MSFS.
Strangely enough I do see MSFS now in my newly created account and can also start the program. Not sure why when the redemption of the code didn’t work why would that user now have access to MSFS ?
Could it have to do with the fact that you have the DVD inserted ? If you only have one copy how would MSFS start anyways ? Mine only start when the DVD is inserted in the drive. I’ve seen that one can make an ISO of the disc and mount that of course. That would allow two instances to start I guess.
You don’t need the redeem code for the second Xbox account! The official and legal “trick” is: Log in into your Microsoft account, there is the option to create and use a family account with another email address. With this second Microsoft account you create a second Xbox account. Log in with this new Xbox account and then install the MSFS on your second PC or Laptop… You don’t need the redeem code, because you are “connected” to the main Microsoft account via Microsoft family / Xbox account login… I swear, it works fine on my two computers, but with the limitation to the Standard Edition on the second family/Xbox account
