But this car doesn’t have a busted aircon. It has some flaws, but everything can easily be worked around, and what doesn’t, doesn’t prevent me from enjoying it.
I am enjoying the heck out of it, so I haven’t been ripped off. I have gotten my money’s worth and then some.
If you’re angry, I suggest taking a step back and going to enjoy something you actually like.
Considering how furiously you’ve been attacking this game and you’ve been responding to me in this past hour, you’re the one who appears personally offended by the fact that there are MANY people enjoying the game thoroughly. I guess being in a widely overwhelmed minority hurts.
Sorry not sorry, but the fact that you’re angry at a game doesn’t matter to me.
I’ve actually defended the game quite a lot but i do think its a little more complicated than other games to judge. I think a huge factor is how people come across when they are venting about the product.
If this game were a single player campaign game, it’d be so much more linear. “Game breakings bugs” would be more of fact/fiction thing as opposed to an opinion. Cant progress past this main story mission? Game breaking bug.
FS2020 though is a sandbox in which there are so many gamestyles and upon thinking about over it for a few days i do believe it may have game breaking issues for certain people of a certain playstyle - the more hardcore the simmer the more game breaking they are in this case.
I fly small planes for fun and because of my chosen playstyle i feel fully satisfied with my purchase and that the bugs are few, far between and negligible. If however i wanted to fly a Citation with a realistic flightplan IFR id probably be disappointed at the missing features and the fact it burns more fuel than the sun.
I have to say as far as complaints on the forum go though i do think Joanne has expressed hers rather well, waiting several weeks to make a review and i know she was really looking forward to this pre-release and that the the purchase for her wasn’t as affordable as it may be for many. Her review of the game was well written and reasons for disappointment valid. I may be bias as her sarcasm level sits well with mine in a lot of responses though (the Europeans and Dallas comment on another post cracked me up). Also worth noting that my car, that i bought in 2013; had busted aircon from day 1! That being said i live in the UK so as long as the heaters work
I still personally think the game was a worthy purchase, is of good value and is going to be amazing somewhere down the line for EVERYONE not just some; but having been using the forums for the past week or so and gathering more experience of the game i do see why there is at this point such a large opinion gulf between the different playstyle types.
What I think some people should be more upset about is that they didn’t make the time or effort to research their purchase before they made it. Or have the common sense to hold off for a while and not buy it in the first few days it was released. And I don’t just mean software, it happens with all kinds of products.
If we want to use the car analogy I can assure you have purchased more than a few cars that have had issues and recalls that needed to be fixed. And I am not talking about a missing knob or a feature that doesn’t work like heated seats or something. I mean stuff like head gaskets blowing, throwing rods, electrical fires and brakes systems not working correctly. Does anyone remember the Pontiac Fiero lmao. Yep I owned one of those piles of ■■■■.
A lot of the issues people are complaining about were made pretty clear before the game actually got released and within days after it released. That is why I waited and didn’t buy it the day it released. I wanted to make sure that one, it worked and two it would do what I wanted it to. And it does in my case. None of the issues people were having were anything that concerned me so I bought it. Had I not been able to install it, which was an issue I was concerned with, I would have just gotten a refund.
Then again I have played Second Life for over 10 years. Compared to that this thing is a polished gem. That game is so buggy it will give you nightmares and make you want to throw your keyboard at the wall. And everytime they try to fix something it seems like they make something else worse.
A number of current simmers were not around for the first two years of FSX and the turbulence it went through. There was a lot of dissatisfaction and complainers then too.
I totally agree with this, i mean there were a plethora of videos a day being released of the last alpha and even the released build. There was not 1 video i saw where the autopilot issue was not mentioned; on the RELEASE build. The avionics, not being finished. Squirrel found bugs with it every video he released, i mean jeez the signs were right there in plain sight. I’ve said it before but i’ll say it again whinging on here about that stuff is like purposely buying mouldy bread so you can take it back and whinge later.
You did it the correct way “Oh those are some issues I’m not going to be too pleased with, i wont buy it and continue to research until its in a state that does not turn me into a forum hobbit whining every single day about the same problem”.
As far as highly ambitious AAA released next gen games go this release was actually pretty smooth for the majority. There are people on here still actively losing their collect sheet over stuff that is marked as resolved in the imminent patch release (but they choose to ignore that because drama).
I’ve run into some prettyyy irritating bugs, but nothing im not patient enough and confident enough to wait for fixes on.
I would echo the sentiments of those that have stated they are glad they have access to it, even in its current state. I now have access to all my Saitke/Logitech panels, I’m getting really good perfformance, and really enjoy flying in this new sim, warts, and all.
Some people seem to have adopted the view that what we see here now, is all we’ll ever have. I can’t relate to that doom 'n gloom mentality. Just like SimConnect was fixed, I’m sure the rest will be too. I am under no illusion that fixing that API will be the kind of timing we expect for some of the larger stuff, but I think we a lot of us are in here for the long haul, and this isn’t some title you use for a few months, then toss aside.
I do not think it’s a requirement to have to watch streamers for 10+ hrs to understand the state of a game.
I did and went with the rental route. However, there’s some of us that don’t have the time to do that and also have limited spend. Microsoft or Asobo rushing this out to take “prepayment” ( I do believe they’ll eventually fix it) of ppls money in this pandemic time just doesn’t sit well morally.
They could have delivered less Planes/systems and just refined their work. The deluxe and prem deluxe didn’t have to be released at the same time. However they hyped it up and rushed unfinished portions to market.
I think for me a lot of the stuff people are having issues with just didn’t effect me or were a concern. I am not a real life pilot, I am not concerned with ultra accuracy or study level re creation and I really don’t care that much about large airliners. Just too complicated for me to mess with and I don’t like how they fly. Sort of like with cars, I am a sports car guy, don’t care much for trucks and suv’s.
And a lot of the more complicated stuff like rnav, lnav, advanced flight planning and approaches I don’t even know what most of that is let alone how it works or it works right. The flight planning does need some work though, it is a bit bugged. But hey, at least its there. I was a bit bummed at having to use a seperate website to do it in xplane. I really haven’t had an issue making a simple flight plan, using auto pilot to follow it and using simple ILS to land.
In all honesty I wasn’t expecting a lot out of this on its release. I was pleasantly surprised. I thougth sure the videos I was seeing were doctored and there was no way it would look this good. Is it perfect? Nope, but I didn’t expect it to be. It is based on satalite photos and AI. I kind of knew how that would work out when you consider it was the whole planet.
I do feel it was rushed to release though, as I expected it would be. I am glad it was though because so far it is pretty much everything I have been waiting for in a sim.
It isn’t. Just like it isn’t a requirement to research any other purchase you make. It cetainly isn’t a bad idea though if you are concerned about wasting your money or what kind of product you will get. And there were plenty of videos that were under half an hour that would have told most what they needed to know. 10+ hours certainly would not be needed. Or visit a few forums to see what people are saying. I mean you are on one now, certainly that would have been doable for you.
I don’t care if they released it too fast! Which I do not think.
Thanks to Microsoft and Asobo for allowing me to use this simulation at last!
I couldn’t wait another day and I don’t care about possible bugs. They will iron them out.
I did read the press release and game store page. I guess my fault was reading too much into the words they wrote.
One of which was “handcrafted”. I guess the marketing signs of “rushed” were there now that you look back on it. Like the upgrade pricing not being told to everyone before you get in game. Lessons learned. For me, it wasn’t a big financial investment($1) but just a lot of frustration and time involved with dealing with issues when I don’t have a lot of that in abundance. The issues are probably why I’m on this forum so much to begin with, trying to figure out if it’s my bad or their bad or real life just doesn’t work that way in a “sim”
