yeh, my 5800X gives 1600 score in R23, but that’s to be expected since the 5800X clocks a bit higher I think.
Not sure what to check next. If anything, I would reset the BIOS to defaults, re-enable the XMP profile afterwards, doublecheck the FCLK is set correctly, and test again.

Thanks for testing.
The BIOS thing:
I tried new RAM, so i did a BIOS reset and just re-enabled the XMP.
RAM: 3600 CL18, DCLK: 1800
But what I found out, I might have problems with the MB:
- “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)”
- No USB-device was plugged-in (I even diconnected the internal ones from the case)
- tried to reinstall the newest Chipset drivers (direct fom the AMD site)
- installed an older chipset driver (from the MSI site)
- installed the newes from the AMD website again
- tried to connect the mouse, deinstall the unknown device, shut down, remove the mouse again start the PC and it shows pops up again the message, that there is a unknow USB device (connected to the MB is only: 2 internal SSD’s (nvme), Fans, CPU, GPU)
- I get Connection Errors with the Reverb G2 all the time (tried one yesterday from a colleague)
so there may be a problem with my Chipset?
or the BIOS?
Do you think it’s possible, that the problems are linked?
MSI and ASRock just released new BIOS firmware for their x570 and B550 boards that specifically addresses a USB flaw in these chipsets. I’ve been waiting for this before I try venturing back into VR again after my G2 failed after two days with USB issues. So give that a shot, but I’m wondering if your clocks are still being throttled for some reason. I get the same Cinebench R23 score no surprise.
Interesting tests though, especially increasing render scale and still being CPU bound. I haven’t had a chance to use Flight Simulator the past few days to compare. But I think that highlights the difference between our setups, where I’d be quickly GPU bound in such a situation pushing the render scale above 100%.
As for holding off on testing the sim: It will perpetually be a moving target between patches, hotfixes, and ports. There’s never going to be a fully stable or finished version of this game and will likely always suffer some weird quirks, so might as well work with what we’ve got.

If you mean that one, I already have it.
So let’s see, what the weekend brings ^^
I have something very similar with a 5950x and 3090. I get low FPS (~20-25) whatever settings I use and am always limited by main thread even on the low preset with traffic, weather and everything else turned off. For such a high end system I would expect to get at least 40-50 fps on my ultrawide 3840x1600 monitor (144Mhz). My old system was a i9 9900k & 2080 and would easily manage 45 FPS on the same monitor at mixture of high and ultra settings.
I applied the new patch yesterday and same problem. All chipset drivers, bios and nvidia drivers are up to date.
Its so strange and would love to find a resolution! I see other people with similar setups having no issues at all.

That is most perplexing, I have a 5900x and 3090 and with all at ultra on a bigger screen 5120x1440 240hz and 10bit and with LOD for terrain and objects at 500 I get between 35 and 55fps?
If turn my lod to standard 200 and and lower Res to 3440x1440 120hz 8bit can get 60fps most of the time
Latest Bios and drivers
Do you have high speed ram
PBO on
IF set to ram speed

RAM is 3600 MHz (128GB) and the correct xmp profile is set in the BIOS.
I’ve not messed around with PBO or any OC’s yet but no other games/applications seem to suffer like this. My R23 single core benchmark seems ok as well

Is there software that will let you track your per core clock frequency along with the load and temps in real time? These CPUs have to boost to reach their full potential, right?

same problem here
amd ryzen 9 5900x
amd radeon 6800 XT
32gb of ram
even running at 1440p i am getting 15FPS.
not sure how to fix it

Oh man, I’m sad for you, you have the same issue than me (also from the beginning on, or just now?).
Because I’ve the issues from the beginning on.
Maybe we should compare the exact Hardware:
- AMD Ryzen 5900X
- nVidia RTX 3090 FE
- MSI B550 Gaming Carbon WiFi
- Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2 x 32GB [64GB] @3600, CL18
- also tested G.Skill Neo Z 4 x 16 GB [64GB] @3600, CL16
That week I’ll also try an ASUS Board
@SkipTalbot
Hm, good question, you can look at HWInfo or RyzenMaster, but temps are more or less in range.
Mostly 2 cores are 100%, 1 to 2 cores about 50% and the rest is low
i am running
ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI)

I’m wondering if we’re just hitting vastly different boost frequencies, if that’s a thing. And hopefully in the end it just doesn’t come down to the silicon lottery.
Meanwhile, I found in another thread that simply turning off the buttons on the toolbar gave me a 10% fps gain. This game and its quirks…
Post performance fixes patch, I can hit 60 fps once again now from Chicago Midway, at 200 LOD even, 4k Ultra @ 80% render scaling… with the toolbar buttons turned off.

Here is my hardware:
- AMD Ryzen 5950X
- Pailit RTX 3090
- Gigabyte x570 master
- Corsair Vengeance LPX 4 x 32GB [128B] @3600, CL18
- Corsair H150i Pro XT Cooler
I’ve also managed to gain between 5-10 FPS by turning off ATC, VFR etc and not having them on a second screen. I always did this on my old PC though with no FPS impact which is odd.
Here is a view from KORD with Ultra settings. I’ve been playing around with 140 resolution scale to try and drive a bit more GPU load but the FPS stays the same if I reduce to 100 or below
and on low:
Definitely something strange going on. I really hope this isn’t a silicon lottery!

The update got me 1 more frame, but what I see, GPU useage is much more higher right now (nearly the same as CPU, but “just” 90% load), but yeah, still limited by MainThread and 20 FPS less than you (same settings). Going over Chicago, frames go down to 15 to 20…
As you see, the temps are good, below 70°C
@tiptronic007
that’s O’Hare for me:
What is also new since the update, is extreme stuttering, when moving the view (might be a very big issue in VR, when moving the head):

Vsync is on correct? In the top right it says sync. I’m curious as to why it says that.
I would suggest opening Ryzen master and enabling game mode and see what you get.

Not sure if you tried what was suggested earlier: What’s the result if you spawn in a C152?
Further things to try:
Disconnect everything from USB except for mouse+keyboard.
If you have any additional PCIe Card installed remove that.
Try with only one ram stick to see if there’s some addressing issue or similar.
What is the result if you set data completely to off?
Do you have anything running that is using SimConnect, FSUIPC, SPAD?

Already tried it, no difference
Cessna is better, of course, but the thing is, that some of us have low FPS with the Airbus in Chicago, while other get 20 FPS more (with more or less the same HW).
- I’ve just one mouse and one keyboard connected (USB wire)
- no PICe Card, except RTX 3090
- tried different RAM Settings (1x32, 2x32, 4x16), no difference at all
- no additional Software, for tests empty Community Folder and deleted scenery.xml
I think Vsync was on when I took that screenshot. I’ve been playing around with it on and off but it doesn’t seem to make any difference.
I’ve also double checked my RAM using Zen timing and everything looks ok
What I can’t get my head around is why lowering settings has no affect on the main thread and therefore FPS.
