Hi,
I have bought a nice MadCatz 5 on eBay and modified it´s centering spring to reduce the enormous amount of resistance the joystick is pressing against the hand when making steering movements. Now after the center spring modification the joystick is almost without resistance, just like I imagine a real Airbus A3XX joystick.
(Or whatever it is called, I doubt that the control stick in an F-16 or Airbus Fly by Wire is called a “joystick”
but I don`t know the proper term for a Fly by Wire control stick in a real plane.)
If you hate the fact that almost all computer joysticks (except the special ones for helicopter simulation) have so much resistance force against the hand because of too stiff centering-springs, you can make this easy modification with cable ties as seen on the pictures - and you will have a realistic joystick feeling and be able to control a plane with the tip of your finger.
But there is one problem in the Flight Simulator with this joystick:
The airplane control surfaces are not re-centering when I center the joystick after doing maneuvering.
For example I pull up by pressing the joystick backwards, the airplane goes up, but when I center the joystick again to level the plane - the airplane just keeps going up and the yoke keeps in a pulled-back position until I press the joystick forward which bunts the yoke forward.
But the yoke does no re-center back when I just center the joystick, I have to always pull down to do that manually to level out the plane.
How can I make the Flight Simulator to fully level all aircraft control surfaces to a zero and center position whenever my MadCatz joystick is centered?
Thanks for the tips and answers ![]()
