Hello, can anyone tell me why my Saitek radio panel, Multi panelalong with MSFS G1000 panels and GNX 530/430 in the C172 (only planes I have tried so far) go dark after 2 1/2 minutes once I start a new flight? I am really struggling trying to get this program and all my stuff working.
I am using a newly built PC I9900, 32G ram, 1TB SS hard drive, G-force RTX 11gb 2080 ti with 4 monitors connected. 3 are 19" PC monitors and 1 50" 4K TV, running Windows 10. Connected to it is: Honeycomb Yoke, Saitek yoke/throttle, additional \Saitek throttle, Saitek Rudder pedals, Saitek switch, radio, multi panel, Cessna trim wheel and a Goflight RP48 (no idea how to get this to work, i used it in FSX to adjust Altimeter, OBS and heading bug) I’m about to give up as I just purchased Xplane last night and within a very short period of time got all but the radios/panels working and the Cessna Trim wheel feels and works like it should! Thank you
Possibly you drained the battery by not turning on the alternator? 2.5 minutes seems a but quick for that, but I’ve never really timed it either. When the avionics fail in the sim, due to failure or power off, the physical hardware goes off as well.
Yes, that sounds about right.
That and to ask if he/she has installed the latest plug in!
Hello, I’m a he and not sure how to change that call sign… This is what Microsoft issued me…
As for the power, I have tried cycling the switches and yes Master and Avionics are both on. if they were not the MFD doesn’t come on even enough to fail. That said, i was just doing a night runup and same thing, after 2 minutes 45 seconds I lost all power including panel lights, so I would agree it does seem light some sort of power failure. The electric system does flicker on and off. As for the drivers, yes I even just installed the MSFS 8.0.290.0
Between Master, and Avionics, is the Alternator switch, so both red switches need to be on. It s the only thing I can think of. Also, double check the virtual switch in the cockpit is on, to rule out some binding/driver issue that’s making the physical switch not do what it is supposed to do. It’s location will be different depending on the aircraft.
Hmmm.
You seem to have eliminated incorrect switch positions and panel drivers.
So unless a search of these forums provide an answer, your only recourse, I’m afraid,
is to log it with Zen desk.
Very frustrating! Sorry I can’t be of more helpful.
Good luck.
Okay, I think I found it! the the switch for the starter was in the start position. At least I think that was it. it spikes the amp meter. I am at the 7 minute mark and still have power. My multi panel is still not showing any information externally but is functioning within the sim when I turn it on or change things. Thanks for the help all.
Haha. Sounds good.
I was once suffering from slightly reduced power [noticeable when climbing] because I had somehow
managed to leave my starter switch in the ‘Left’ magneto [instead of ‘both’] position.
And we wonder why/how real life pilots crash their aircraft, eh!
Ha! Believe it or not I am a commercially rated multi engine pilot and flight instructor! Trying to get this sim as real as I can is the true challenge. A momentary start switch on these panels would be a better setup. In all honesty, in the process of getting all my hardware to properly work I am starting out with engines running at the runway so I am not going through a full start check list which would have hopefully identified this error. I still have a lot of stuff that’s not workable for a true IFR flight experience.
Haha. Good stuff.
I agree. Realism is most assuredly the holy grail here.
I expect [and hope] that feedback from RLP’s such as yourself will prove to be the key
factor towards that end.
Regards.
Ah, so you were draining the battery then. You should have seen a net loss on the Ammeter, that the Alternator couldn’t overcome.
I had a similar thing in the Savage Cub, where leaving the fuel pump on, and the lights ends up slowly draining the battery.
It would also have helped me identify had MSFS respond with an engaged starter sound like XPlane does. I was wondering why the sound seemed strange in XPlane, so I fixed that issue I had there now as well… Yes, paying attention to the amp meter would have also helped as well.
